Me and my young lad are on the xbox playing Lips. Not doing all that good to be honest.Still choking every other word lol.
Twas me that changed the text. Blame me, I don't really care, I was just making it relevant and friendly to newcomers.
I do find it amazing how some people are so resistant to change, especially when it was for the sake of the company that is, after all, hosting the forums anyway. Not going in to it all again, but none of the changes really bothered me at the time. It all just seemed a bit too much like the recent student riots; you got the feeling that most of the students were rioting because they wanted to riot, not because they had the first idea what they really wanted and how to get it.
Which came first, forum change or forum exodus?
I'm positive we agree on the reasons lots of the original members don't tend to visit these forums too often anymore. But why should that mean we keep the rest of the original elements (that were tailored towards members who no longer use these forums) in place? For example, outdated thread introduction text which means nothing to the majority of new visitors/users. By the way, I'm certainly not suggesting we're going to make any further changes (the thread intro text was changed by a forum moderator).
I'd love nothing more than for the original cast to regroup on these forums one day, but quite a few have made it clear that's unlikely to ever happen.
Despite never being around during the SR days, I do remember times in the early days at Freeola where we had a 1000+ posts a day, and it would be great to reach that again. But it just seems logical to try and appeal to new visitors now.
Anyways, this topic often spirals out of control so I'll leave it there, but like I said I don't disagree with you as to why we don't get too many visits from the old users these days.

Is the only question seemingly brought up more than the chicken/egg question.
I'm not too sure who changed the original text, though it wasn't done by a member of Freeola Staff.
I do however entirely agree with the original text being replaced as it was out of date, irrelevant and confusing (for any new visitors).
Yeah I agree, there was no point in keeping it once the forums were changed. It lost it's context.
I know the older forum members are more attached to this thread but as you're often quick to point out, not many of the originals frequent this place anymore.
