But that's exactly what Sodenbury did with Ocean's Eleven and turned the pathetic original into something watchable. Solaris took a similarily dire original and turned it into an only below average film.

I can imagine it now. First day of fliming, J-lo's on set doing her first scene, and Affleck starts laughing. He stops and tells her to now do it properly. She slaps him, they divorce, film never gets made, critics applaud it as the best thing to happen all year. Cameraman sells tape he took of them fighting to a TV company for $50,000.

Why do modern film directors and actors/actresses insist on re-marking movies and then killing them with bad acting and techno soundtracks.
In Hollywood nothing is sacred, they have to dig up every sucessfull film, kill it, and make sure nobody has any good memories of old films.
The same goes on in the music industry, songs are covered time and time again until nobody knows who originally performed it.
