Is there anything that you would give up sex for?
Is there anything that you think is better than sex?
Why is sex so highly rated as a past time? Sure it feels pretty good, but so does a lot of stuff. So how important is it to you?
I think I would give up alcohol though
As much as I enjoy it, at the end of the day it's just a biological function that induces pleasurable feelings.
There's always opiates/the internet/stroke books
> So what would you give up for sex?
If anyone asked me to give up anything for sex I would consider that an unfair request and wrong for them to try and use sex as some sort of currency.
Seeing as I know that's not going to happen I can safely say that if it did I would give up my relationship for sex.
Did anyone else follow that? or am I gonna get a bashing for being a

The media exists purely to act as hype for whatever hot topic is that day's choice.
I think it's as important as you make it.
When you're a teenager, it's the most important thing in the world. You're convinced that everyone else has except you, you worry "what's wrong with me? Will I ever?".
And when you finally do, you're The Incredible Hulk.
But then it loses some of the mystique that goes with it.
Because of movies.
Especially porno movies. They're chock full of hardbodied, shrieking nympomaniacs that groan at the slightest indication of a pork-sword.
Mainstream Hollywood is just as bad, an unrealistic portrayal of sex.
There's no unexpected noises, no "Ow ow, you're on my hair" or anything else.
But above all else, there's no humour.
Now I'm sorry, but I find sex to be one of the funniest things we can do. It's pointless unless you're concieving, involves a lot of face-pulling and unflattering angles etc etc.
But people seem so utterly hung up about sex.
Especially the media.
Nobody bats an eyelid when Vin Diesel annihilates several hundred people with a bazooka and a quip. Yet even so much as suggest a realistic portrayal of sex?
Banned/protested/hysteria
Why is ok to watch a man kill another man with weapons, but not ok to watch two consenting adults pleasuring each other?
We may be in the 21st century, but we still have Victorian-era attitudes towards sex.
And it's only recently that females have been allowed to express an interest in sex, except god forbid in a predatory manner. You can be an object of lust, but you're still frowned upon for saying "I enjoy it and I want to have sex outside of a relationship".
I'm glad it's changing slowly but surely. And I've been with some women that are absolutely in charge of their sex lives and have no compunction about no-strings sex. It even has a name now, "F###-Buddy".
Somebody that turns you on yet you do not want to be in a relationship with.
But there's still this huge mythos built up over sex.
"Oh the internet, uncensored porn!!!!"
Big deal. I'd be more concerned over kids watching execution videos than shagging.
Violence is cool, sex is a no-no. Go home tonight and watch the news.
See how many reports show soldiers firing, buildings on fire and tanks.
To me *that* is offensive and pornographic. Live death beamed into my house before 9pm. Yet if I want to watch a porno, I have to subscribe to a specific channel?
We've got our priorities wrong here.
Nothing wrong with sex at all. It's healthy and natural.
But the tabboo built up around it only makes it appear more daring and must-do to those that aren't.
(to counteract the Goatboy-gets-serious mode of previous thread)
Not real life lesbians obviously, but the ones you mean.
I'm still think about the post before that
I guess on the issue of casual vs relationship sex, a lot is going to depend on whether you attach emotions to sex (making relationship sex better, hopefully) or not (so if relationship sex gets stale, it won't be as good as casual sex, though it's up to the couple as to whether that happens).
Most women seem to attach emotions to sex, less men do.

* chuckles, remembers more, chuckles again

Sex is fun and there should be laughter. Mindst, men can be a little touchy about this and can get somewhat paranoid.
Can't at the moment think of anything I would give up for sex, unless it was something unpleasant e.g. I'd definately give up the ironing.
