The real problem for the X-box may be the fact that it is so similar to a PC. The architecture is almost identical and it runs useing a version of Windows. Potential crashes and 'errors' aside, the issue of games will make or break this console.
Due to the similarities between the X-Box and PC the flood of simple ports is inevitable. This may not be a bad thing as many consoles have benefitted from PC ports (Quake III)
But what is Important is that if it is easy to transfer a PC game to the X-Box it mught not take agvantage of the console's potential and look and play exactly the same as the PC version. This would be a bad thing.
Consoles benefit greatly from having exclusive games - Gran Turismo, Shemnue (???) mario etc. If the X-box doesn't have these why would you buy it?
As has been said before games make a console and that's exactly what the X-Box needs - High quality, exclusive titles. However I feel that these will be few and far between....

I'd have to say, I think I trust NVidas poly count quote... and box spec do portray the machines potential (deja vu?)...

Most PC erros come about from having so many different machine configurations... the reason console games dont have som many bugs is that the devlopers already know what the specs of the machine are, they know what drivers are to be used, and what will make the machine collapse... secure games wont be a problem for X-Boxers...

Console ports from PS1 games are generally updated for PC users... However Microsft has made deals with over 200 games developers... Peter Molyneux has stated he will only be producing console games fro now on, essentially... the X-Box WILL have games that take advantige of its archtiecture... whihc wil then be ported over to the PC... its bad new for the PC industry, not for the X-Box industry, since for there money they will be thinking of the X-Box first.,... and the PC second...

Why does this benifit the consoles... Games written for a console will always work better on that console... if I played MArio 64 on a PC... it wouldnt be as good as the N64 version... Microsofts X-Box/developers agreements are breaking the mold, in that games shouldnt eer be exclusivly created for a console (nobody complaineds about Quake3/UT/Half-Life being converted from the PC... what makes console games so different).. especially now that internet gameing is on the way (dreamcast Quake3ers Vs. PS2 Quake3ers)... Besides X-Box has signed up pretty much ALL the industrys best minds... chances are the best Western Games will be X-Box games

I'm probably repeating myself here.. but... Microsft got soo many developers my giving them a contract that allows them to develop for other consoles as well... which should mean and classic X-Box games will also be avalible on the PS2...

If there are no exclusive titles, then it would make more sense to spend the cost of the XBox on a new graphics card and extra RAM!
I think Microsoft will have to bung a lot of money the developers way to stop them porting games straight to PC, and leaving the XBox very unattractive to consumers.
