The real problem for the X-box may be the fact that it is so similar to a PC. The architecture is almost identical and it runs useing a version of Windows. Potential crashes and 'errors' aside, the issue of games will make or break this console.
Due to the similarities between the X-Box and PC the flood of simple ports is inevitable. This may not be a bad thing as many consoles have benefitted from PC ports (Quake III)
But what is Important is that if it is easy to transfer a PC game to the X-Box it mught not take agvantage of the console's potential and look and play exactly the same as the PC version. This would be a bad thing.
Consoles benefit greatly from having exclusive games - Gran Turismo, Shemnue (???) mario etc. If the X-box doesn't have these why would you buy it?
As has been said before games make a console and that's exactly what the X-Box needs - High quality, exclusive titles. However I feel that these will be few and far between....

The fact is that we live in a capitolist society in which Microsoft has every right to control the market. If you don't like it, become a communist!

The system should be fairly stable, MS seem to be fairly competant at making stable cut down versions of Windows... equally, as I said before because the devlopers will know the excat spec of the system, there code will be a lot tighter, with a lower number of bugs

The Xbox uses windows, and so may crash. The Dreamcast uses windows too, and I see them crashing all the time.
The Xbox will usffer from too many ports. The Dreamcast has suffered from too many ports- clearly the fact games are licenced for consoles doesn't make any difference.
The Xbox doesn't have high quality exclusive titles. Bungie, who are making Halo, for example, have not been bought by MS.
The fact is, the Xbox is a great set up. It was made by games developers who worked with MS to get every feature they needed. The reason for the PC style archetecture is that that is what developers wanted! It's far easier than something like the PS2s unique (ie poor) dev kits! It is also v. similar to what Sega did with the DC- an easy to develop platform that developers love.

It's funny, because I noticed that the other day, but soon forgot about it, as the auto flush came on the urinal, and as it was flushing, and filling up, I was also still filling it up. You can't easily start once you stop see, and I'd already started before the flush kicked in. So anyway, there I stood, at the urinal, watching as the level of water was ever rising. I wasn't sure how much longer the flush was going to last, but my bladder must have contained around a gallon, as it didn't show any signs of subsiding either! Anyway, just as I thought that I was going to get wet shoes, the flush slowed down, and as a result, the water began to disappear. So thankfully I was able to finish my business, and get back to work. As a result of all of the excitement I'd forgoted my initial Armitage Shanks spelling thought.
