His new series was on tonight. He was as amazing as usual. If you haven't heard of him, he calls himself a "phscological illusionist", and plays tricks with people's minds to make them do things and say the things he wants them to.
He can also "read" peoples minds. He just analyses their facial expressions and reactions to his questions he asks them.
Tonights epsiode was the start of a new 6 part series, following on from 3 stand-alone hour long shows he did in 2000, 2001 and 2002.
Tonight, he managed to convince three medical students they were suffering from toothache, made one of their hands go numb and got them to sick a hyperdermic through it, guessed 9/10 times in a row which hand (left or right) a crowd of people would randomly choose and in a segment from his last show made an advertising duo make an advert for an imaginary company.. exactly as he had drawn.. using painstakingly prepared subliminal messaging.
Definately worth watching next week. 10.30 Fridays Ch4.

Now I've long forgotten my permutations and combinations probabilities, but getting a 50/50 guess right 9 out of 10 times is still pretty unlikely based soley on random guesses.

Anyway, was the point of that not that he purposely got one wrong so he could get the guy back and have the grand finale bit of saying about his dogs and vinyl etc.

The two episodes on so far have been repeats, I have seen the advert making up thing, the boxers lifting the girl bit, the needle through hand, and the strippers...

I was actually talking to someone about it on the Thursday night previous to the first episode, so either they are repeats, or *I AM* psychic...

But 9 out of 10 shows that he is flawed. And I think that the people are planted, so the entire thing is staged for TV. Until I get proof, I will not believe that Darren Brown is for real.

And I find it amazing how many people he can fool. It seems like pretty much the entire forum :)

I don't think its magic, but it IS clever.

The way he did the hand thing and said stuff like "You'll try and break the pattern, so you'll go left" and when he said "How many people are there left?" And then the girl went left.

Stuff like that isn't magic, it's just clever. And, really, it's pretty basic when you look at it closely, which most people don't.

The tractor thing last night was cool. As was the bit right at the beginnig, when he had the pictures of people, and guessed which one you were thinking of. I thought of the one he pointed out, did you?

well for a real phycic (so he said) they can only get 4/10 right, so its still pretty impressive, but he did know what that guy did and everything, and about his personal details and how he had dogs.
And its still fun to watch how slight hints can amaze people like he said mmmmmmmm while trying to get the women to say "m" without her realsing she got tricked

I think that Darren Brown is a hoaxer in part. I believe that the hand thingy is real, as he only got 9 out of 10 right, which to me isn't particularly impressive (10 would've been). The hand one isn't that difficult - all it requires is intensive studying of the nerve endings of the hands and such like - nothing groundbreaking.

The thing he did with the card in his pocket, you could see his hints. He tapped his chest to say it was a heart, he said “it’s a number, or a picture or something”, he paused for a while to let NUMBER sink in, it was impressive that he got number 7 though all I picked up on there was that he said “number from one through to the HIGHER numbers” he emphasised higher but it was good that he got the exact number.
The stuff with the strippers was quite impressive, and the tractor bit just made me think…how?!

On again tonite. It is still great to watch him do it, but the hour long specials he did were better.
The highlight of tonites epsiode was him in the boxing ring stopping boxers from lifting up a girl using the power of his mind.
