Apparently, an American spokeman for Nintendo has stated that Gamecube is well on track for an October 2001 release, which is brilliant news indeed. It stands to reason, then - should this be more than the usual meaningless PR nonsense-talk - that Gamecube definitely WILL make a July 2001 Japan release. Let's hope we'll be seeing Mario, Link et al in next-generation form over in the colonies this year, then...

So we are looking at the fall of 2002. Which, funnily enough, is what I saw on a site only the other day. The earliest release ever surmised by the gaming press was, I believe, around Spring 2002. Recent reports have suggested quite convincingly that this will now move to Autumn-ish.
Time, as I often say, will tell.
