Americans are all thick! Really! Once I went on a vacation to the US and this American made a very small mistake about Europeans and I laughed in his face because he was wrong. This means ALL Americans must be stupid!
Americans all have bad grammar! I was watching the news and this guy from Alabama was talking like this “I tink me saw a humangus UFO”. I can’t believe Americans talk like that. Can’t they be more like the English. I bet American schools pass students even if they do nothing because Americans just are not smart. This means ALL Americans must have bad grammar!
George Bush is a stupid President! He does everything wrong! I make fun of him because he is stupid. Very stupid. ALL Americans think George Bush is awesome though!
While I was on vacation in the US I saw a couple of overweight people on the beach. I giggled under my breath but I didn’t tell him what I thought in their faces. ALL Americans want to become slimmer. They are ALL so fat. None of the people in my neighborhood are that obese so no one in my country must be obese. I think ALL Americans should go on a diet to look better.
I once saw this American on a television show and he kept on saying obnoxious things like “gnarly” and “totally killer dude”. ALL Americans talk funny!
American names are dumb. ALL Americans have names like Bill and Jimmy. Who would give their son such a dumb name, can’t they get a UK name to look cool. This is really bothering me. They should fix this as soon as possible because I hate it. ALL Americans have dumb names.
Americans are crazy. I saw this show that some American people made and all they do is fall off stuff and break their bones and streak in parks and stuff. Americans do some crazy things. I told this American I saw on the street to do something crazy for me and he refused. I knew he could do it though because he was American. He just didn’t want to because he is dumb. I like America. Not that I've ever been. But if I could've chosen to born somewhere before my birth, I'd have picked America, and been an American. I don't really know why. It just seems like the most alive place on Earth.

Why are you apologizing? I know there are people that aren't bright already in America. I'm not blind. I'm just saying that just because there are people in the US that aren't smart doesn't give anyone the right to make a stereotype.

Some stereotypes are pushed around so much though that people actually believe them to the point of ignorence. I have had "someone"(not saying who) on the forums tell me to loose weight on MSN because I was fat. When I asked him why he thought I was fat he responded with "You're American and all Americans are overweight" and I only weigh 111Ib! I got kind of surprise at him and told got into a semi argument with him and he ended up saying in the end that all Americans are arrogent and self centered.
Then a couple of days ago I had a dream where all I saw was a guy in a dark room saying ignorent stereotypes about every sort of people. It didn't bother me then but the next day I some forum members bashing ME(not in general). Ack!

Thing is, everyone uses stereotypes to a greater or lesser degree. They're harmless enough things as long as people don't actually end up believing in them...

The sad thing is though i have actually seen this sort of idiotic stereotyping both in real life and on these very boards.

The problem is that it's not just American's. Sure there are some stupid Americans, but then, there are a lot of them, which means straight away that proportionately there will be more stupid ones.
I remember when my sister was about 13 she didn't know the difference between Europe, Great Britain and England. Scary? I'd say so. If you went out onto the street today and asked 100 13-16yr olds to name all the continents I bet you'd be surprised at how many couldn't.

I sell items on Ebay, and seeing as shipping abroad is a pain in the neck, all my auctions state I only sell to the UK.
So, this morning sitting in my Inbox is an email from a women in Arizona, her question ? "Is Arizona in the UK ??" So, thinking this is someone playing daft bug£ers I go check her feedback, and find she's got plenty, o I reply;
"No, I think you misread the auction page, I only sell to the UK, not America"
I get a reply back;
"Oh I didn't know what the UK was so I thought I'd see if Arizona was part of it, thanks anyway."
!!! I swear this is all genuine, and you guys know I'm not likely to make up things like this. Unbelievable no ?
