A new 17 race championship is nearing the start and after last season's close finish, everyone has a chance to win. The F1 merry-go-round has been in full swing so let's update everyone with the changes.

Ferrari (Previous: 0 wins, 0 poles, 19 points)
M Schumacher (Previous: 0 wins, 0 poles, 9 points) = SHADOW
Barrichello (Previous: 0 wins, 0 poles, 10 points) = UNBELIEVER

Williams (Previous: 3 wins, 1 pole, 59 points)
Montoya (Previous: 2 wins, 1 pole, 33 points) = AFROJOE
R Schumacher (Previous: 1 win, 0 poles, 26 points) = ABSOLUT NEO

McLaren (Previous: 1 win, 1 pole, 31 points)
Coulthard (Previous: 1 win, 1 pole, 14 points) = REYNOLDS
Raikkonen (Previous: 0 wins, 1 pole, 17 points) = INEEDSLEEP

Jordan (Previous: 2 wins, 1 pole, 37 points)
Fisichella (Previous: 0 wins, 1 pole, 14 points) = BADGERMAN
Firman (Previous: NA) = DW

Sauber (Previous: 0 wins, 1 pole, 31 points)
Heidfeld (Previous: 0 wins, 1 pole, 16 points) = SYLPHETIC
Frentzen (Previous: 2 wins, 1 pole, 45 points) = FIGO

Minardi (Previous: 2 wins, 4 poles, 41 points)
Wilson (Previous: NA) = MIKEALL
Verstappen (Previous: NA) = JERICHO15

Jaguar (Previous: 1 win, 1 pole, 23 points)
Webber (Previous: 2 wins, 1 pole, 22 points) = EVIL DARK
Pizzonia (Previous: NA) = REDDY 2003

Renault (Previous: 1 win, 2 poles, 27 points)
Trulli (Previous: 1 win, 0 poles, 14 points) = ANT
Alonso (Previous: NA) = RANDOM HERO

BAR (Previous: 4 wins, 2 poles, 80 points. Current Constructors Champions)
Villeneuve (Previous: 2 wins, 2 poles, 34 points) = HAMMOND
Button (Previous: 0 wins, 2 poles, 13 points) = PARANOID IDIOT

Toyota (Previous: 1 win, 0 poles, 31 points)
Panis (Previous: 2 wins, 0 poles, 46pts. Current World Champion) = FOREMAN
Da Matta (Previous: NA) = GRANDPRIX

Senna GP (Previous: 2 wins, 3 poles, 63 points)
Irvine (Previous: 0 wins, 0 poles, 2 points) = CRUNK DOW
De La Rosa (Previous: 1 win, 1 pole, 21 points) = EXPLETIVE DELETED

As you can see, no less than 6 drivers will be making their debuts this season. Last years champion, Panis, has joined Toyota and last years runner-up, Frentzen, has joined Sauber. Arrows, last years runner-up in the Constructors championship were bought out and were renamed after the late great Ayrton Senna.

We start off the season in Australia, where we saw how close the season would be last season.

Last season saw the entire 22 cars split by just over 3 tenths of a second, the top 6 being within a tenth of each other. It was Alex Yoong in the Minardi that got pole last season with a time of 1m26.818s. Yoong's strength last season was qualifying, snatching 3 pole positions. Unfortunately for Yoong this time round, he won't be making it 2 in a row as he doesn't have a drive for this season. Panis will be hoping to improve on 6th place on the grid this time round as he tries to defend his title.

Qualifying was bone dry last year but the race was a wash out. There were cars spinning all over the place but it was Mark Webber who came out on top with a flawless drive to win for Minardi. Mark Webber made it a Minardi race but making the fastest lap of 1m36.956s. Can Webber make it 2 Australian Grand Prix wins in a row?

Top 6 finishs last season (Qualifying position in brackets):

1st Webber (4th)
2nd Bernoldi (5th)
3rd Button (8th)
4th Yoong (1st)
5th Raikkonen (11th)
6th Trulli (9th)

Lap records:

Qualifying - 1m26.818s - A Yoong
Race - 1m36.956s - M Webber

I hope everyone will enjoy the new season ahead of us!

I should know. He was my driver last year. :) He was poor at the start but came good near the end. Only Irvine had a bad season. The rest got at least 2 points finishes.

De La Rosa qualified 22nd and retired with transmission failure in the race. De La Rosa was definitely stronger in the second half of the season last time.

Races are run over a certain number of laps. The fastest lap doesn't mean a lot. I don't know if that is what you are asking here.

So i'm guessing that each 'win' is counted on by the Race lap times? (This is just a check, I need to know before everything starts) I'm sort of confused in that area of winning etc.
