but I have windows ME. Also should I install them on my current and then fit the motherboard, or the other way round?

Motherboards have one hell of alot of drivers. My current AMD 3 year old one has loads.
Go to device manager and system devices. Most of those are motherboard drivers.

And one more question, should I install the motherboard drives before I fit it or after?
