So the 20 pin Connector is ataced to the PSU, and you then plug it into the motherboard, yes?

The connector is keyed so it will only fit in one way unless you really force it. You won't damage your motherboard b putting the PSU connector in.

About the 20 pin ATX power supply, how do you know what voltage the cables are coming from the PSU?

All the cables are attached to the power supply, most motherboards use the standard 20 pin atx adapter but if you were going for a pentium 4 then you would need a Pentium 4 compatible power supply as they have a couple of extra motherboard connectors, also if you are going for a dual cpu system then the motherboards sometimes come with a 24pin power connector but i belive they are phasing this out.

Thanks.

Also, can I ask about the 20 pin ATX power supply on the motherboard. Will the cables for it come with the power supply, motherboard, or will i have to move my existing ones across from my old pc? If they dp come with the motherboard or PSU, will they have the connecters on the end? e.g. P1, P2, P3, etc
