Singer Anastacia has vowed to fight breast cancer after being diagnosed at the age of 29.

She has told her fans - "Don't worry - I'm a fighter."

The US star said she was determined to stay positive despite the shock news and asked fans not to worry about her.

The cancerous lump was discovered last week after her doctor insisted she have a mammogram to check for the disease - and she said his actions had saved her life.

In a statement, Anastacia said: "My doctor was insistent that I have a mammogram (during a routine check-up last week) even though it was not required. He saved my life.

"I appreciate all who are concerned, but please don't worry. Either way I have no intention of letting this news get me down.

"I'm a fighter by nature and nothing will ever change that."

Nope, sorry, no offense to her or anything, but I don't care. We're verging on a new war, and I just KNOW that it'll now be that on the front page of The Sun tomorrow condemning actual matters of world importance to the inside pages.

When I heard this story it was;

"Anastacia vows to fight breast cancer"

And that made me chuckle a little.

Don't get me wrong, I wasn't chuckling at the fact she had breats cancer, I hope she gets through it with the absolute minimum of trouble and worry, but the fact that she 'vows to fight' it.

I mean, who wouldn't?

Anastacia Gets Breast Cancer, Accepts Defeat Without Trying"

Like anyone would ever do that.

Still, all the best to her, it was good of her to issue a statement to her fans too.

I do like her, her music and her voice, and I really hope she's caught it early enough, and beats it.
