Singer Anastacia has vowed to fight breast cancer after being diagnosed at the age of 29.

She has told her fans - "Don't worry - I'm a fighter."

The US star said she was determined to stay positive despite the shock news and asked fans not to worry about her.

The cancerous lump was discovered last week after her doctor insisted she have a mammogram to check for the disease - and she said his actions had saved her life.

In a statement, Anastacia said: "My doctor was insistent that I have a mammogram (during a routine check-up last week) even though it was not required. He saved my life.

"I appreciate all who are concerned, but please don't worry. Either way I have no intention of letting this news get me down.

"I'm a fighter by nature and nothing will ever change that."

Yeah, I read about the stomach disorder - can't remember the name of it at the moment, but I always wondered what that scar on her stomach was.

She's also struggled with a rare stomach disorder since the age of 14. Let's hope that the Gods smile on her for once and she can overcome this latest "set back".

Well, I dont know her but she's got a hell of a voice. That sucks, just as it sucks for anybody with cancer.

Be a shame to lose a decent female singer, there ain't a whole lot of them about.

It was in the papers today - and not on the front page of the Sun. Front page was about the al Quaida guy happily living here off money we give him!

Damn straight.

Over the last few months or so has been showing quite a bit of cleavage (well, much more than when she first burst onto the big scene) Kinda ironic that shes gone and got breast cancer...

Cancer takes more casualities than war.

Thats the most important thing, I hope Anastascia makes it through, she is a role model to many many girls in America and this news is only going to be good in raising more awareness on a still taboo'd subject.
