Apologies in advance for a stupid question...
I have just had NTL broadband installed and had my phone line taken out. I seem to have hit a problem in that I cannot seem to upload updates to our Club site. Am I reading this right in that I have to subscribe to Freeola Broadband for £30 per month just to upload web updates twice a year or pay to have my phone line put back in??

I think you may be confused!
You pay for the domain name registration, Freeola host it for you, it's FREE when you buy from them...
My NTL webspace is free...
I have a few uploaded files on Freeola but most are on my NTL account...
I don't have to pay anything for Freeola, I jst pay Getdotted every 2 years to re-register my domain name, I then go back to getting free webspace off of Freeola!
Freeola ADSL costs £27.99, the server only allows you 25 meg if you connect via ADSL due to the fact that they are not making money on call charges like when you dial up...
By only allowing you to connect via dial-up, they are making sure that you can't connect using your super fast connection and upload loads of stuff, they will allow you unlimited webspace because they get money from every minute that you are connected to their ISP...

So you have free web space going begging and broadband and you still pay for the old account?
I would seriously think of transfering the domain name may save you a ton of hasle and money in long run.
Other than that just unplug you cable modem and use your internal one on the rare occasion you do need to connect up.

It was clear when I signed up...
If your PC is still connected to a phone all you do is unplug your modem and dial up...
OR
If you have NTL, you will have 55 meg of webspace, instead of changing hosts which is a pain, create an index page that welcomes the person to the site and when they click it, it then directs you from the index page on the Freeola account to your files on you NTL webspace..
That's what I do, works fine for me!

This is where Freeola are conning people. They should make it COMPLETELY clear that if you buy a domain from them you have to dial-up to add content. SR, it really would be in your interest to allow broadband users to upload to your servers. Not for free obviously, but if you were to charge a nominal fee to Blueyonder etc users for 25MB space then you wouldn't be getting such a bad name.

To Upload to your Freeola Web Space, you have to do it via 56k dial-up modem, via the Freeola dial-up telephone number. This is the only way you are able to Upload your Web Site.
This is how Freeola make their money, by taking a percentage of the call charge. This is also how Freeola are able to offer no set limit of Web Space, because you are always paying for the space you Upload to, therefor Freeola don't have to guess how much you would use per month, or set a limit on what you can use.
Freeola also offer a broadband service, which is ADSL. ADSL is technology designed to be used with BT's telephone networks and lines, so therefor isn't accessable via NTL's own lines.
Freeola's ADSL is a service aimed to connect you to the internet, and not designed to allow users an alternative to Upload via other means of connection.
Unfortunatly, with no regular phone line, you are unable to Upload to your Freeola account.
So, as someone suggested, you're best bet would be to take your files to a friend and use their dial-up to the Freeola number and your account to make updates and uploads. If it is only every so often, this shouldn't be to much hassle to you or the persons computer and line you use to connect.
If, however, you start to make regular updates and it starts to become a pain to keep taking files to your friends, and have him uplaod them, it would probably be in your best interests to change hosts of your Web Site.
