Hi there just a quick question what speed should i be able to download stuff at if im on ntl's 600k broadband service?

128k: 16Kb/s
512k: 64Kb/s
600k: 75Kb/s
Of course speeds will go up if the data you're downloading will compress at all, and some service exceed spec occasionally.

I can get 20kb/s with my 128k line...
My mate can get 80kb/s with his BT broadband...
I'd go for 80-90kb/s at the best...

Around 70kB/s. Though it depends on the server you're downloading from. Even though you can download at a much higher rate, there might be times when you're still downloading at only a few kilobytes a second.
