Personally I thought it wasn't quite as good as the most recent two. About as good as Generations I thought, and I thought Generations scraped through :O(

SO either they can't produce clocks, which would really screw up anything they want to time, or they can't overclock the chips in their starships to make them go faster.
"Mr Laforge, we need more power, overclock the Dilithiam processor"
"I can't captain, we haven't got a big enough fan, the chips going to blow..."
etc.
Now cloaking technology, there's a different story.... ;-)
Sorry, just felt that needed to be said.

Yeah but aren't the Klingons part of the Federation now? Since they helped the Federation fight in the war against the Dominion.
The Klingons have cloking technology, but at least you can detect them.

The treaty the Federation has with the Romulans prohibits the Federation from developing clocking technology.
As for the storyline, it was fast paced enough for me and not as corny as Generations or Insurrection (phew!). I enjoyed the film and left with good impressions. It's Star Trek, after all, you don't really expect anything major in the thought provoking stakes, that's left up to the non-US sci-fi or the independent writers rather than large franchised American series. Try watching Wrath of Kahn again, you'll find the same amount of annoying quick plot changers and characterisations. The main thing that held that together was the acting from Ricardo Montalban.

That's exactly what I thought. I can't wait fr them to start building their time machines, it must be in the 27th or 28th century, or maybe a bit earlier when they come u with the technology.
I mean come on every other race has developed it and it is not as if the Federation doesn't have the research and information to make there own so why say it would give them an unfair advantage, from the evidence of this film it is a distinct disadvantage.
