I've started using Kazaa Lite more and more and getting bit worried about security, can you suggest a firewall and virus detector (either shareware or paid for product).
Cheers

I've had a few virus warnings from webpages, a script that is designed to harm your PC...

Dunno what it was though...

I think there is Active-X as well, which is embedded into Web Pages, which can have affects on your computer??

It can help to stop any random programs you have from accessing the net...

RealPlayer does it all the time, mot probably spyware in the software that Ad-Aware won't kill off...

You're wrong. Virus' can't just 'seep in' through the internet, you are either getting themby opening infected e-mails or through downloading and executing infected software.

And anyone who gets a virus by installing cracked software thoroughly deserved it.

You'd have to be stupid to get them from IE, but getting one from OE is quite easy. Remember those ones that automatically open themselves, all you have to do is press "yes", and all it takes is to accidentally press enter once. When you get 20+ a day like I used to, you've got a high likelihood of getting a virus.

Also viri come in some things like Kazaa downloads, cracks (for those whom use them) and even Word documents.

As for firewalls..... no, I still can't think of a use for them.

In fifteen years of having a computer I've never had a single virus, and until a about a year ago I didn't use any anti-virus software either. The only reason I use an av program now is because it was free with my dsl connection and because I'm concerned about *other* people using the PC.

Not getting viruses is pretty easy: don't open attatchments, and don't use Microsoft products to browse the web or read your emails.

That's rubbish, i get virii all the time, and i've no idea where they've come from, it's not possible to be totally sure you're virus free without using a scanner.
