If you log into hmv.co.uk your PS2 order should say something like "It has been completely shipped". Thats what mine says anyway. And I should get it tommorow. =D

I've had no despatch e-mail from HMV yet, but as I got both the PS2 and PSP versions from them for a total of £40, I'm not complaining! :-)

Pro Evo 4 was down to £9.99 with the imminent arrival of 5, so I picked that up at, erm, another internet store. I've found it harder to score against the computer, but still excellent fun against human players. My friend and I are in the World Cup equivalent, with 16 teams each.

Stop reading if you don't care about trying this or already know this stuff, but here's a suggestion:

- Enter a championship with all human teams

- List your 16 teams in order of preference (we picked one after another, so this came naturally).

- If a match is your team against your friend's, play as you'd expect.

- If the teams both belong to one player, that player must take the stronger team. This way, the other player has an incentive to knock out the stronger team, whilst the player with the stronger team has the incentive to win and qualify.

- This generalizes naturally to large numbers of players provided a specific person is chosen to take another's place each time a player has two of his/her own teams competing. For example, P2 always fills in for 1, P3 for 2, P4 for 3,...,Pn for Pn-1 and P1 for Pn.

Its obvious, but I thought I'd mention it.

In this particular cup though I had one big disappointment - Portugal thrown out by Japan in the second fixture. Gah! One of my favourite teams.

Had my first taste of PES5 today with the demo on the latest OPS2 mag.

Played it on 3-star. Haven't scored yet, but haven't conceded any either.

It does seem to play a much better game. It's a little slower, but in my opinion not greatly so. Free kicks are much more common, especially if tackling from behind. Passing is... challenging... but not impossibly so.

Graphics are excellent, especially the new Arsenal and Chelsea kits. You can recognise the players instantly. Lots of new animations are evident, even without performing any trick moves.

Sound on the demo is very low quality, but that's no doubt down to the need to share space with the numeous other playable demos. Commentary is unfortunately no less annoying, with the return of Brackley and Brooking. It also seems to be no less buggy - Gilberto headed goalwards from a corner, and Brooking promptly stated that he was brave "taking it on the volley like that". Oh well, can't have it all I guess!

It was a balls-up on the HMV site - they had it up for £14.99.

They've corrected it, but are sending it out to all those who ordered for that price. Only one copy, mind... some ordered several.

They swiftly followed it up with an Xbox pack for £0.01 :-D
