Being the bitter person I am, I'll complain about this. Why? Because I can.
I mean, for christ's sake, does no-one actually read these posts? In fact, forget that question. I know they don't. If they did, the likes of "Vive City Rap" (yes, I'm ranting about that toss again) wouoldn't even be in contention for spitting at, much less winning something.
Alas, whatever decent writing I put on here is simply handed off as over-intellectual babble. I can only assume that whoever is deciding GAD these days has the literacy of a five year old orangutang.
I don't deliberately try to win GAD, and to be honest, in the past I've won it unjustly once or twice myself. But even those posts were at least interesting to read, brought forward debatable points, and were generally of some quality. But when I put together a decent post (or five), I don't expect to win, as there are a lot of good quality posts on the forums on a daily basis, so when some utter drivel wins ahead of not only mine, but a dozen other far more worthy posts, it makes a mockery of the whole system.
Ooh, he hasn't won before, drop him a prize for persistence.
It's about time they re-wrote the GAD rules:
"Post on the forums, and your name will be dropped into a hat, or simply burned if you're any good, and you can win a prize at random."
That said, they say that taste is a relative thing, so we're back to the literacy level and ability of the GAD reviewers to hold their attention on a post long enough to make a decent decision.
I could rant all day, but I won't. And to the cynics among you, I'm bitter because crap posts keep winning, not because I don't. Vice City sodding Rap.
Jesus christ. I'd rather rub my face against high grade sandpaper for half an hour and then apply some old spice than read that sort of toss.

So you admit that the best post doesn't always win then?
:-)

Do cease your torrent of ambiguous ranting. I don't care what people think of my posts. I have never posted on here to win games. But if you're going to let poor posts win because you think they are great, then that's an incentive to write poor posts, don't you think?
I don't care. I'll live with a GAD, and I'll live without one. The odd GAD is a nice little perk, but I've spent £500 this year making sure I have all the games I want, and I do. A GAD now would sit waiting for some months before I claimed it. And we all know what happened last time I went some time without claiming a GAD.
But whatever. You have a far more tactical role than you'll admit to. Giving out GADs to consistently good posters isn't part of it, attracting and retaining customers is.
I won a GAD. I don't have a game to show for it.
But, fair play to them; you support man Utd, I would have sent a piece of sh!te through your letterbox ;)
Seriously though, I've read many posts that have won a GAD and they were funny, interesting or well written. I've also read (as much as I could stand) the numerous spoofs that have won as well. So in this respect I agree that the encouragement is/was there to write a spoof (make a post) because it had a proportionaly high chance of winning.
However, my dislike of spoofs does not mean I begrudge people winning from them, as many would say (unfairly ;)) that posts on Banning Whales and the evil menace of water are also trite and unworthy.
And as Mr Snuggly intimates: it would be unfair if Meka won 4-5 times a week, with me also winning 2-3 times a week. No one else would get a look in...

A little longer than that I think. But taking an 8 month vacation from looking at the GAD list is more than the allotted time for claiming.

Arrogant leper. I'll talk to you when you get your head out of your backside, and lose sight of your current witless bufoonery.

The funny thing is, Blank is totally right.
IB, you claim not to care then spend a whole topic whining about it, blaming staff for you not winning something you apparently don't care about.
If you're so rich and have all the games you need already, why bother even discussing GAD?
Of course, I don't expect you to have read it. God forbid you have a clue what you're talking about before you open your halitosis ridden gob.
> Giving out GADs to consistently good posters isn't part of it, > attracting and retaining customers is.
Then why do people like Meka, pb and Goatboy sit at the top of the GAD winners list then? You're half right, of course it's about attracting and keeping customers, but not by rewarding poor posts. Your definition of an uninteresting read may not be that of someone elses. And like I said before, if (by whoever's definition) 'the best post' of the day always won, then there would rarely be any winners outside of the Notables and a few select Regulars - that's bad business, and ultimately, that's what we're in it for.
