Best acronym I ever saw was YCHJCYFPFTRL printed above a bar. I asked what it stood for, and the barmaid read out "Your curiosity has just cost you fifty pence for the royal lifeboat - that's 50p please".

A 650Mhz laptop is still acceptably speedy though. I wouldn't mind one :O[

Nah trust me you dont want a laptop for games. When I got mine (650mhz, 128sdram, 10gb, 8mb graphics) 2 years ago, everything was splendid. I could do what I wanted. Over the moon happy.

After 6 months I was pretty pizzed off. Clock speed suddenly shot through into 1ghz+, and virtually all game were requiring decent 3d cards. Being the lappy it is, I couldnt upgrade, coz generally you cant and if you can its more expensive.

The thing is, computer hardware gets better so quickly. I wasted £1600 on something that lasted basically 6months before i needed something better, and better things were avaliable.

Now I use a desktop system which Im super happy with. Its gone through several cheap easy upgrades as times gone on, and it cost just a third of the price.

I find programming quite therapeutic. I really have to clear my mind, think analytically, and learn to see things in a fundamental way. It makes me patient and methodical, which is against my nature. It's all very Zen. I used to program quite a lot on my Sinclair Spectrum when I was a kid; and I've picked up the habit again recently, using C++. It's very calming.

If you want to REALLY flex them, you can do my OO coursework or write me some snazzy programs in Ruby in the next hour and a quarter.
