The Football Association are to investigate the clash between Arsenal's Martin Keown and Manchester United's Ruud van Nistelrooy during the Gunners' visit to Old Trafford.

A copy of the match video has been requested by the FA, who will study Keown's apparent push in the Dutchman's face in an off-the-ball incident during Arsenal's defeat.

"We can confirm that The FA has requested a copy of the video from the weekend's Premier League fixture between Manchester United and Arsenal," said a statement on www.thefa.com.

"This is to consider an incident involving Arsenal's Martin Keown and Manchester United's Ruud van Nistelrooy.

"The FA will consider the incident before deciding whether the matter will be referred to the video advisory panel."

Well, looking at the playback it's fairly obvious that RvN was looking for a reaction. He seemed to step on Keown's foot on purpose. Probably an effort to get the man cautioned, so he would have to watch his tackles for the remainder of the game.

I won't say that I appreciate that type of football, but it didn't work on the day, and Keown should have known better than to react to it.

Well, there's a surprise! I'm sure none of us were expecting that.

Don't get me wrong - he'll deserve whatever he gets.

But going back to last season's match at OT, RvN punched Ljungberg in the stomach. The ref and linesmen missed it, and oddly it was never reported that the FA requested a video of that particular incident. And he was certainly never suspended for it.

And people wonder why many fans - of all clubs - suspect the FA of favouritism.

Yea it was a good 'push' with his fist into Nistelrooy's face.

I was surprised to see Keown do that, and if the ref or the linesmen had seen it, then it would of been a straight red.
