WHY?
There is absolutely no need. Do we celebrate Halloween from September to December? No. I saw some public decorations up on about the 20th of November this year, and though "Jeez...what's the need?" - I got home and lo and behold, my next door neighbour had lights on one of their garden trees.
I think decorations should only be allowed at maximum a fortnight before and a fortnight after (still totalling a month, remember), because there's just no point to having them up longer. Christmas is one day. As far as I'm concerned, the world would be a better place if people asked themselves "Why?" a lot more often.
Messed my head up it did
I love putting them up and we usually do it the week-end before the 12th, as 12th is usually during week and there's not that much spare time.
You miserable lot you

an american friend of mine told me that they had started playing christmas music in some of the shops near her since halloween.
must have been last friday when I first heard any christmas music in shops
:)
In January there'll be Easter Eggs in the shops.
And next September they'll be selling fireworks for Guy Fawks night.
I think there should be a law against it myself.
Shops should only sell Easter Eggs at the beginning of April, and they should be taken off the shelves after Easter.
Fireworks should only go on sale on November 1st, and be gone again on November 6th. And no sales to anyone under 21.
Businesses should not be allowed to even MENTION Christmas until December 1st, and it should all be over - decorations and all - by 3rd January.
Too much hassle taking them down afterwards!
