On it, it says you have signed a "production deal with Sirreel music". I was just wondering what one of these deals is.
Is any any different to a normal record deal? I'm just interested (being in a band myself) and didn't realise there were lots of different types of deals with record companies.
While I'm here, I assume the gig last night was good? Looking at their website (Barfly's), theres been some tough acts to follow in that place!

Like Goatboy, I too play in a band, and a couple months ago we were offered a Publishing Deal for 3 albums over a 2 year period. Of course, we were over the moon, since a small indie label thought that much of us that they wanted to put our music out.
However, we wasn't going to go into this completely blind and sought legal advice. To cut a long-story short, we was told that it was "one of the worst contracts" he'd seen. Once he'd cut through the jargon, it basically equated to us selling the rights to our songs for I think it was £1, which is absolutely abysmal.
One thing we stipulated, was that we retained the rights to our songs since that way, we keep our freedom. So if we wanted to walk-away after a year had elapsed. No problem. We could and we'd still retain the rights to our songs.
In anycase, we declined the offer, but more importantly, we didn't burn any bridges either.
It's a very sneaky business. Beware.
It is really confusing in the task bar!
