The "General Games Chat" forum, which includes Retro Game Reviews, has been archived and is now read-only. You cannot post here or create a new thread or review on this forum.
So we would like your comments in this BUG TEST. An extra prize will go to the person who contributes the most to improving this site with little tweaks or solutions.
LITTLE TWEAKS are the operative words. You will not win anything for suggesting that we spend £35 billion on a re-design.
You must post your comments under this topic (or the similar one on the Playstation 2 forum) to stand a chance of winning.
Good luck
The Winner will be decided on Christmas Eve
1: Experimenting with colours
----Hold polls online to decide which colour scheme is best
2: Designing a chat room!!
----SR needs one and you can make monitors and stuff! (there is a website you can get a free chat from)
3: Holding debates:
---at a certain time you can hold GAMING discussions.
4: SRCC: Special Reserve Console Championships
---I attended one this year and they are sooo wicked.
5: change the watchable movies to .mpeg and .mov's to be played online and in Quicktime!
6: Place review scores so that people can select a score out of 10 for other people to look at.
--- If this seems a problem then you can only review a game if won or brought from special reserve!
7: I found a missing link all over the site which you have fixed now.
8: Changing the 10 ten games to be at the top of the homepage.
There are links all over the place, ok they ARE tidy enough but the pages look too bitty. I know SR aren't aiming to win any webpage design awards, but really! Something should be done to improve the site slightly: make the pages look as though they were created with an essence of style!
Cheers
Oh, and about the colour change. EVERY company needs some identity - a brand name, and brand colours. For instance Gameplay have a very dark website and logo etc. EB are are red'n'white and GAME (owned by EB) have a stylish purple/turquiose colour scheme going on.
SR NEED to send out a message. OK they may be an incredibly successful games supplier etc... but how many times have the regular people in the disussions forums actually purchased a game? The whole systme of buying a game needs improving. The automated message response time should be faster and how about having the good old 'my basket option'?
Perhaps the site should be split into two. One for buying products and one for discussing? Special reserve have plenty of spare domain names to go around! UKgames, UKDreamcast, UKPS2, UK everything and then there's the www.specialreserve.co.uk/com!! SR could make enough money by selling these domains to people in order to redisign the site!!!!
Thanks
Dan
(Oh, and by the way Wookie7 got his game JSR today, so don't send another!)
: )
PUt links to the discussions, reviews and other stuff that the readers can use.
What?
(Well, I was searching through the other forums the other day, and I noticed that they all had little sentances under their names, on the left. Some of them had stars too.)
And?
(Well, the stars were for how much the person contributes to the site, by amount of posts, and the sentance was for a little comment about that person.)
That's rather nice. I suppose it give "newbies" some incentive to stay, as it would be a task to get more stars.
(The highest you could get was five stars. Naturally.)
And the comment could be fun too.
(Just put into the details section!)
Excellent! I wish I had thought of it.
