This is about the only place i saw fit to put this, so here goes.

Right now, im on with doing my UCAS form you Uni. All of its pretty much done now, apart from the personal statement which i want to try and get done this weekend, as i feel im just a little bit behind with this now.

Thing is, as most people do, i want to make sure its well written, and is going to put me foward well. Only problem is im not entirely sure what i need to say or how to put it across. My 6th Form have given us a little help, but nothing much.

So, since i know a few of the people from SR have been or going to Uni, maybe some of you could give me a few little tips about what to write and how to write ot, or something to that effect, please?

Thanks for any help.

nice.

but if your applying for a number of universitys, some may interview and some might not. it's best to just do it once and do it right.

It's only worth doing properly if you're applying to a place that interviews. They use it for the interview. Otherwise, it's all on predicted grades.

I've got an interview with Warwick on the 20th November. Superb.

The basic idea of a personal statement (in no particular order)

------

Immediate Goals & Objectives

Main interests and hobbies (i.e. making a hobbie into a profession etc)

Strenghths and development areas

Any interesting activites carried out or involvements in voluntary work/training programmes

How your academic background blends in with chosen course at university (extending the learning curve etc)

Future aspirations

For God's sake, don't write anything about your pets, relative's ages or things that can change quickly!

My personal statement was five sentences long. Took me ages.

You were me last week

I completed mine last night... ooohhh yeeaaah.

It is really a pain and I hated writing it.

Basically I was just honest why I wanted to do courses
A bit about my academic skills etc
Bits about hobbies and interests
Conclusion

Was quite good
