Even if broadband doesnt grow it wont affect it that much as nearly the whole of the states is wired up, its the eurupeans who are lagging behine even the in the uk 70% can get it where they live.

You do pay for it. Its £42.99 but you get Free subscription until March 14th 2003, and then your 1 year subscription starts. So I am paying the same price as it will be when its officially out, but I get it 5 and a half months before its out and have that as Free. Sounds good too me. Plus I can get Unreal Champ in a few weeks and play online :).

Getting mine in a few days :).
Like gamezfreak has said Boz, beta testing is just a few people, 3000 I think having the kits early to test if it all works. MS dont really want to release it to the public and have loads of bugs and people with problems. MS have selected people who will use different types of connections, ISP's, way of connecting the XBox to the connection e.g. ICS, router. This gives them a whole range of testing scenerios to see if they all work, or with which ones have problems.
A few of us here are Beta testers and hopefully will get our packs by the end of next week if not a bit before.

Beta testing is where Microsoft pick various people who have signed up to test the Xbox Live service, Find bugs, comment on service ect.
Xbox live is in "Beta Stage" at the moment and will be progressing to an Open test drive on November 30th where anyone can sign up.
Then it will be officially launched on March 14th 2003.
Im getting my pack on November 30th..

Look into things....
NTL are quite good. No installation fee until December 31st, costing £24.99 a month for the 600kb/ps service.
also who ever said will it be hyper i have this to say, with it being broadband only it will mean there will be less people, but broadband will grow, and also with a year subscription like that i cant see it failing at all, many are put off by the cost but that sounds VERY fair to me.
I have a question about it though, well 2 infact but one is about broadband itself.
1. Whats this beta testing thing? i have no idea what beta means and i heard that you have to pay to become one.
2. installing broadband, how much will it cost and do i need to keep paying a monthly fee?

Actually its everything that was said to start with. The future of XBox will be with XBox live.
