What we play and what I listen to is 2 completely different things eh?
And it's definitely not aimed at teens/kids, more of the older audience like you say - people that appreciate "proper" music (blokes with instruments) as opposed to kareaoke singers.
Looking Out is getting the response from labels and radio stations, we've got showcase gigs all through this month which always suck - an A&R bloke comes to rehearsals and sits there staring at you.
Beautiful To Me is just something completely different to our normal stuff. It came from Chris just playing that riff over and over during a soundcheck and in about 10 mins we had the basic song worked out.
Has, as Craw said, a tap delay on the vocals - we wanted an early sound to it, nothing over-produced or too flashy. It's a simple song built on a hookline and the line "Beautiful to Me".
Mrs Jones is a lot more bouncy and upbeat, foot-tappy stuff that's just a fun song to play and always goes down well at gigs.
So - when's the record deal going to be finalised ? What you have got is the kind of music that will appeal to an "older" generation (20s - 40s) of music buyers I would have thought - It's not the stuff that will appeal to kiddies. It's always good to hear bands actually playing instruments and not relying on midi backing tracks and all that kind of nonsense.
I like the little catchy bit in Beautiful to me that runs through the song and Looking Out is a class track - this could be one the radio now.
Beautiful to Me
Cool guitar intro.. the vibe of the song is a tad too 'shuffly' for me but you pull it off well. Chorus takes a while to come in (about half way through the tune?).. the vocal on the chorus I think could have lifted me a little more, especially as there is only one in the song (although saying that you repeat 'Beatiful to me' quite a few times which is chorus-esqe..). You've got like a single tap delay thing going on the vocals which kinda reminds me of 50's recordings which suits the song rather well.
Looking Out
Immediately more soul in your singers voice.. but then again I'm a sucker for a bit of triplets misery... heh Good use of strings - not too overpowering (unlike say Richard Ashcroft) but you'd miss them if they weren't there.. nice break after 1st chorus.. gives a bit of air to the track. Guitar solo at the end.. I prefer it when you're all more syncapated toward the end of it.. there's a bit more drama.. it takes the song up a notch..
Mrs Jones
All I got was 3 minutes of silence unfortunately. I think the Beatles may have beaten you to that one..! I think my browser is on the blink.
Looking Out is my favourite so far but I wouldn't mind hearing something more upbeat to contrast it (maybe Mrs Jones is that..?).
Only my opinion for what its worth.
Opinion to follow.
Looking Out is the one that everyone goes for and I enjoy playing it. You're right, it's 100% not the sort of stuff I listen to myself but I love playing it.
And I understand it's not everyone's cup of tea - I don't expect universal praise because we're all into different stuff so any comments are cool.
Looking Out is one of the newer songs we've written, and it's got a string quartet on it to beef the sound. We've got a few more in that style, but that's the one that gets the most response from people.
Glad you like it.
And yes Snuggly touched me, yes in a man love way and yes I enjoyed it.
And Snuggly...post that pic and I'll...er...think of something.
> I've touched Goatboy!

In a man-love way?
> it was okay in a kind of chill-out sorta way
That sentence makes me sound like such a knobhead :) Sorry for the utterly lame comment.
