Just wondering what your opinions of the game are. preferably people who own it and haven't just played it for 5 minutes in a shop. A few questions answers would be helpful.

What are the guns like? are they really powerful like in the original Turok, I loved the guns in the 1st but then the guns in the sequels felt almost like pee shooters compared to the original game. Oh and is there a dirty great chaingun and a nice shotgun to use? always need them in Turok games.

Is it nice and gory like the original few games? Turok 3 was gory but as soon as someone died their body dissapeared almost immediatly.

What are the levels like? I enjoyed the original Turok the most, I liked the levels where you where walking around old Tombs and you could barely see anything, partly to do with fogging I know but those levels rocked.

What are the enemies like? is it all Dinosaurs or is like the original where's there's a good mixture of both.

Oh and is it worth getting?

Right that's me done, thanks for ya help.

I haven't properly the played the original Turok games, only Rage Wars, but I really like Turok Evolution and don't think the reviews do it justice.

The levels are very detailed as are the dinosuars, the sleg are the main graphical flaw. The guns are big and meaty with a chaingun, mini-nuke launcher and anit-gravity disruptor and they are all pretty fun too use.
The effects are also very good, noticeably on the dark matter cubes explosion and the heat haze from a rocket being launched.

The gameplay is good but can get tedious after fighting hoardes of sleg and you'll wish there were more dinosaurs to fight. But it's fun making people puke with the poision.

Worth a rent, and if you're a fan of the originals, then you'll probably want to buy it.

I know you didn't ask but from what I've seen and played it's not really very good, compared to the others it's quite pap.

I only played on the first few levels so maybe it gets better, crap first impression though. Oh and it was the X Box version too.

Do yourself a big favour and don't even touch the game with a barge pole.
In answer to your questions...
Guns are as great as ever. Unfortunatly, this is really the only plus point of the game.

The game is gory with some moments that'll make you chuckle. But it'll only be so many times you make someone puke before it gets old. The bodies still disapear pretty quickly.

As for the levels, theres still levels typical of the series but theres nothing that really impresses - especially with the FPS games available. I was lured into getting it from promises of free roaming levels which give you the chance to actually hunt dinosaurs. This really wasn't delivered. Theres no real stealth hunting, just running and blasting while hoping that a raptor doesn't jump on you.

Enemies, etc. Its basically a mix as usual with more appearances from dinosaurs than the other games. Unfortunatly 9 times out of 10 their totally oblivious to your presence and will happily eat plants while you fire a number of shotgun rounds at their head. Or at most walk away from you a couple of paces.
The enemies are pretty stupid too. Either standing on the spot after you've just blown their mates brains out from a distance, or running straight at your gunfire when they notice you. Its all a real letdown.

As far as Nintendo shooters go, wait for Timesplitters 2 and Metroid Prime. Don't waste your money on Turok - you might as well give someone £40 to thump you in the face.
