Steven Gerrard believes Liverpool are as good as Arsenal and the midfielder has warned the Gunners they face a fight to retain the title.

Arsenal have enjoyed an awesome start to the season and currently sit two points clear of the Reds at the top of the Premiership.

But, while Gerrard recognises that Arsene Wenger's side will again be the side to beat this season, he says the feeling in the dressing room at Anfield is that Liverpool are now on the same level as them.

"Arsenal and Manchester United are not better than us," he said. "OK, Arsenal won the Double and are a great side, but if you ask anyone at our club if they think they are better than us, everyone will say the same.

"Maybe a few years ago we had some catching up to do, but if we play Arsenal we can beat them. Arsenal are not going to run away with the title this season - we are not prepared to let that happen."

Gerrard also admitted Liverpool were happy to not be grabbing the headlines in the same way the Gunners have so far this term, and are waiting in the wings if and when the champions slip up.

He added: "People keep going on about Arsenal, but our view is to let them. We prefer it actually.

"We are happy to keep a low profile and just carry on as we have been doing. If they slip up, we'll be there."

Keane is the man we need for the big games. I just hope he wont be suspended for the the first week of December when we play Arsenal and Liverpool. And I hope Veron is conveniently injured. He just cant cut it in the big games. He can get away with the odd bad ball against the likes of Charlton and Everton but i think he's too much of a liability to play against Liverpool and Arsenal.

Right, we don't need Keane in-order to perform well.

Just as-long as we have a midfield that can work-well together, a defence that can do the same, and 2 out-and-out strikers who will play and STAY upfront, ready to recieve balls from Beckham, Giggs, and Scholes or Veron.

If we have all that, aswell as a confident keeper, then 3 points should be in the bag in no-time! :)

We have had six straight wins in our last six games. Keane isn't essential.

Nope we are not a one man team, all im saying is that our first choice quartet in midfield haven't played together for a long time, it is no secret that we aren't playing our best football at the moment and when Roy comes back maybe we can get some consistancy back in our midfield with Keane and Scholes combining in the middle of the park.

Roy Keane is a major player for us there's no doubting that, Arsenal have had many injury worries but they are replacable with the sqaud you have, because they all seem to fit in well at the moment, we are short of a few players at the moment.

No, none of them are that poor. :-)

Anyaway, are you such a one-man team that all your woes can be blamed on his absence? :-)
