Recording some extra bits for a song over the weekend and it's one of my favs. Started life as an acoustic number on the 1st CD we ever did (before I joined). It's the song that made me phone them 20 mins after hearing it the same night and tell them I'd give anything to play for them.

Called Pots & Pans.
It's about being in a job you hate when you know you should be doing something else, following your heart in whatever it is you wanted to do as a kid. It's about chucking away the security of a career and risking it all on the off-chance you'll get where you're supposed to be, instead of convincing yourself that what you are doing is ok.
We used to play it live, haven't done for about a year but we will at the next gig. Last time we played it, the entire venue was singing along "No more 9-5" for the last minute or so.
To look out and see a roomful of people singing along is something I'll never, ever forget as long as I live.

Pots & Pans

Got a bad taste in my mouth
Chew me up and spit me out
Don’t you know what I’m about?
Well I should have seen it coming
Should have spent my money
And changed for the day
Get away
And just let it out

Now there’s nothing left to spend
Time and money soon they end
But I know I’ve got my friend
Well I thank you very much
Gonna keep in touch
Write me a letter just to make him better again

Tomorrow I’ll be there
No more 9-5
And I’ve had my share
Now I’m doing fine
Tomorrow I’ll be there
Nowhere left to hide
Tomorrow is a day
Gonna keep you away
Ifs and buts?
They never seem to pay

Tomorrow I’ll be there
No more 9-5
And I’ve had my share
But now I’m doing fine

----
I'll try and get them to a manageable size and upload them somewhere so others can hear them.
I love what I do and I love my boys.

No more 9-5

Just thinking about it - if youv'e got a modem there you could always dial into Freeola and upload them easily enough - I have an unused account you could use - if you want to - I'm just being impatient....

Let us have the URL when you have it then.

I'll give it a good over night listen before commenting though

Mr Happy is emailing me the details to his site.
I think I should be able to upload them there? Not at all sure to be honest but I'm working like a POW to get it working asap.

These are the 3 tracks from the album sampler, promo-only copy we got last night from the presser.
Lovely stuff

*strokes case*
Mmmmmmmm...guitar-based loveliness

Stick a post it note on your forehead then

" must take CD's in to work "

Even you are bound to look in a mirror sometime when you are at home.

Not a bad suggestion.
I know Mr Happy has some webspace, I *will* get them to a manageable size tonight, or bring the CDs in tomorrow and do it from work.

The songs I have, in a decent and almost mastered state are:

Saints & Cynics - guitar based, always open with this one
Mrs Jones - Bouncy singalong
Lonely Hearts - Superb saxamaphone breaks in
Looking Out - String quartet, a definate winner
Pots & Pants - purely acoustic from 3 years ago
Beautiful to Me - One of my favs, Beatles-esque (with a steal from "Come Together" in it, buried though)
Walk Away - Big set-closer.
Whatever Wherever Whenever - Foot-tappy happy one.

I think I'll get Beautiful to Me, Looking Out and Lonely Hearts up 1st - a good mix of styles.
Damn, I want to do this now!

Continue this excellent work...
Brilliant! As usual the careful and intuitive production that Freeola puts into everything it sets out to do, I am delighted.
Everybody thinks I am an IT genius...
Nothing but admiration. I have been complimented on the church site that I manage through you and everybody thinks I am an IT genius. Your support is unquestionably outstanding.
