Konami have pulled MGS2 substance from their Japanese release list for the Xbox because it has not achieved a satisfactory installed user base.

Am I the only one that found MGS2 to be lacking of any originality?
I played it for a couple of hours and got bored with it. Went back to it now and then and it's just a rehash of the 1st game.

Torture sequence? Check
Guiding Missile by video-screen? Check
Twisting Story with preachy ending? Check

It lacked the sparkle of MGS. Where were the little touches like printing the CODEC code on the back of the case? Or unplugging the controller so that your opponent couldn't read what you were doing?
Scanning your memory card for other Konami games?

Personally I couldn't care if this game never gets released on any format in any country.

By the way, Substance will still be released over here and in the US. The MGS games aren't as popular in Japan as they are in the west, so it probably won't make much difference.

Anyway, there are good games out an due out for Xbox. If you could be bothered to pull your head out of your @r$e, you'd realise it.

To be honest, i fear for MS. They really gotta get some games and get a bigger userbase soon, or who knows what will happen. MS say that they are determined to succeed in the industry, but how far will they go?

I don't know what a Ninty or fanboy is but they're obviousley geek terms....... any way I'm not out to get the x-box I just think all the best titles come from PS2 and rarely do any good games i.e GTA or MGS get transferred to X-box.

will someone please explain to me Ninty and Fanboy

Hmmm, it's actually "Xbox has no substance in Japan", still a big shot to the head for the Xbox's future though.

I guessed it wernt a compliment.... so from my interpretation...

No. Not a fanboy at all. Just because I own a PS2 it doesnt mean that I will slate all other machines. That's for nintys. I got a PS2 because i liked the titles, and I have a GC and a GBA because i like the titles. I don't have a XBox because though i have played halo, and it is very good, for me there is nothing else on the system that warrants me getting one.

and that bugs me. it's a great machine, with one game. if it sold for £50, had the game built in and played nothing else, then i'd definately get one, but £200 (inc game) for 1 game is too steep. I'd rather invest in a machine that when i finish a AAA game, there is another waiting for me.

Put it this way, it isn't a compliment :) Anyway, neither you or the other guy are fan boys for pointing out that the Xbox has lacked quality titles since the release day. Metal Gear Solid 2 is one of the greatest games on PS2, and Substance is set to add to the storyline ready for MGS3 which Kojima has promised to deliver in 2004.
