In medievil times, in France. "The Beast" is attacking people and the peasants are scared.
In comes two blokes, a roguish French dude and his Iriqoi Indian mate.
They talk a lot and then pursue The Beast.
The CGI for the Beast is naff. Roy Harryhausen could have done a better job.
However, with that aside I have to say this movie rocks.
Absolutely fantastic.
Loads of awesome fights, people killed with hatchets, slo-mo/speedy quick kung-fu action in rainy fields, vengeaful attacks on barbarian strongholds, nudey women, more fights, more nudey women, a bloke with Tribal tattoos going mental on 9 blokes in slo-mo/speedy quick.
Well worth watching.
Werewolf/awesome fight/nudey French women/tattooed indian ass-whupping goodness.
I know there's a 3-disc region 1 for £20 I've ordered, but region 2 is available as far as I know.
When's it coming out on DVD?

Like you say, no it's not.
It's big killer wolf-thing, kung-fu, nudey women and gore. And yep,the breasts-into mountains thing was cool.
As was the dude with the claw.
It wasn't a deep political comment on France's ideology.
It was fighting/shooting/humping/killing/nudey excellent

Hahaha... this was the film that kicked off the whole Mr. Happy is poncy thing :-)
I still think you missed the point with that one, but yeah, nice film. Though the independant believes that the film is a deeply philosophical essay on the three French motifs of liberty, equality and brotherhood.
Which it's not.
It's like the Matrix meets hound of the baskervilles meets soft porn.
There's an absolutely inspired shot where Monica Bellucci's fantastic breasts (the highlight of Italian flick Maléna) fill the screen as two similarly proportioned mountains appear via a crossfade. Almost beating the lesbian action in Mulholland Drive.
And it attacks a woman at the start in an homage to Jaws.
Superb film, even for a French one.
What is The Beast exactly? - Is it a huge roaming half-man/half-wolf kind of thing with supernatural powers? - Hope so.
