"Microsoft Evil...?"

Rumours about Microsoft buying out Capcom (see the SR news section) are floating around after a profit/loss prediction for Capcom show they forecast a loss of over £50 million (I think it was in pounds, but it may have been dollars...)

Anyway, at first I didn't blink an eye, then I remembered what we could lose. The Resident Evil franchise.

After just one game (the Resident Evil 1 remake), are we going to lose the franchise to MS? I'm kind of reserving judgement about Resi for now. I haven't played the GC version, but played it on the PSX and it was okay, nothing amazing though. I'll hopefully be getting it from SR tomorrow through the post. So while I may or may not think the loss of the Resi franchise is terrible for me personally, it'll still be bad for the Cube...

You can't deny the popularity of Resident Evil, the announcement that Resident Evil series would be remade and be exclusive to the Cube was a bit of a shock for a lot of Nintendo fans, as Resident Evil was long associated with the Playstation.

Resident Evil fans then have had a bumpy road. I'll bet many bought a PS2 early expecting to see a Resident Evil game before too long, then the GameCube announcement comes, so if they really want to play all the games they have to get a Cube too (or trade the PS2). Now if MS buy up Capcom, the Resident Evil franchise will likely be exclusive to the Xbox, meaning a further console switch if they wish to play the Resident Evil series... That could get annoying...

Well, that's about all. I'll decide how big a loss (well, potential loss anyway...) the Resi franchise is after I get the game, until then, thoughts/views on this? Is Microsoft getting greedy? Do you care about the potential loss of the Resi franchise? Are these questions at the end of posts annoying?

Ever since Microsoft introduced the X-Box, my opinion of them has gone severely downhill, and here's why:

BG: "Hmmm, it appears there are no decent games in development for our breeze block, probably due to the fact that no-one is interested in it. I know, I'll wave my big fat check book under the noses of all the decent developers, buy them all, and have all the games worth buying on X-Box!"

I know they're in the business of making money and all, but this is starting to get plain pathetic. It's as though that greedy b***ard is slowly taking over the gaming industry. It's just not right.
Yes, the majority of games of games being released for the PS2 are drivel, but at least Sony are banking their profit, rather than using it to buy out the competition.

Well I personally think Code Veronica was the worst Resi game so far. Nothing new except the 3D engine, just the same old plot twists, same old enemies and characters and same old puzzles. Very very dissapointing.

As for this new microsoft rumour, well I have to say if its true, then I'd like to wonder when exactly microsoft plan to make a profit from the console it's already spent billions on? I'd also like to tell Bill that to win a games market doesn't mean to buy out every games devloper who puts a 'for sale' sign up, especially when devlopers like Rare and Capcom make few high profile games.

Resident Evil Biohazard - Remade [1st made]

Resident Evil Nemesis - first half is set before RE 2 [3rd made]

Resident Evil 2 - Came out BEFORE Nemesis [2nd made]

Resident evil Nemesis - second half is set after RE 2 [3rd made]

Resident Evil Code Veronica - the best released so far [4th made]

So yes, even when Zero has been released CV is still the futhest the story has progressed.
