I've always been puzzled by the massive success of the Final Fantasy series. I'm just as astonished on how many people like its disjointed interaction that it calls gameplay. I mean, the battles are done on a AI level with little interaction from the player, you just press the attack button and random calculations are made based on if your character is quicker, stronger, or has special abilities that the enemy finds septuple to. You just sit back and watch the computer fighting with it self, occasionally changing its path so that it can continue to fight but in a different manner. If you think about it, your not playing the game at all, but rather the game is playing you. The computer is using you as a tool so it can continue on performing random patterns and calculations, and probably is enjoying every moment of it, too.
So I say this. Make a stand for what is right, say NO to turn-based RPGs and say yes to real-time ones. It's the way RPGs are ment to be played, and if some developer can break this awful trend that is turn-based combat, then I think we'll be back in the good old days of such classics as Zelda, Illusions Of Time and Terranigma.
I've never liked a turn-based RPG up to this day, and I've played alot of them I can tell you. Would you ever replay an RPG after all that stopping and starting, stopping and starting? I would rather put my nads in a vice.

Yeah, I never noticed that. Oh well, when you really want to emphasize on a point I guess thats a good way of doing so. :D BTW is Lulu in FF10 really as powerful as she's said to be? I really hope so. See you tommorow mate.

You do know that FF6 had a female protagonist (and one hell of a protagonist) don't you? Maybe Square thought that we guys would only go for male protagonists (bwark!, if they want to put in a male protagonist then I would like another Squall or a Kuja, not another punk like Cloud or wimp hothead like Zidane). I mean people will go for characters they can relate to, not punks like Cloud. I loved Squall and Kuja, 'cause I could relate to them and they were both clever and serious, and hated Cloud and Zidane for being often stupid and wimpy. Also I want a spellcaster as a protagonist, not a thief or mix. And you know what a female character wouldn't hurt either. I would love another female protagonist, as long as you can choose her class and have her either as a tough Sorceress (like Lulu), Cleric or Fighter over a thief or mix. First of all its not only guys that have PS2s and not only guys that play FFs (many women love playing PS2 games). Second of all serious or cool male protagonist like Squall or Kuja or a good female protagonist would appeal just as much to us the male audience as one like Cloud (who in fact don't appeal at all :p). One thing I would like to see in a FF is being able to design your protagonist to be male or female and which class to follow. I would also like REAL TIME battles and you being able to see your enemies (like in Chrono Cross). What would be ever so cool and bring balance into the FFS would be to implement the 3e Dungeons and Dragons rules into it (real time of course). Ah well. THat's my rant finished. Anyone feel the same as me?
Is it on the world map?

What do you want to know. Exactly.
