1) The Legend of Zelda : The Ocarina of Time ;)
There are many more, but I have no idea how to rank them - all I know is, The Ocarina of Time is truly the greatest game ever made, and I hope it will always remain that way... (except maybe for the Gamecube version?? ;) )

~Number 10 - Fifa '98 - Road To World Cup - Format: PS1~

I have always been a sucker for a football game. Anything that includes a ball and 22 men chasing it around a field has a damn good chance of me buying it. Fifa games are the worst at making me do this. Every time a new one comes out the graphics are better, they have a new ‘system’ that helps create better goals, and, more importantly, a new player on the front of the box. This may not sound impressive, and believe me, it is not, but the some how, nearly always convinces me to part with some dear beloved money.

Nearly every year the games get worse. Where as the graphics may be amongst the best up for offer, the game play is dire. Passes go astray, crosses always finding the player you want them to and Keepers end up letting you tap it in. There was one years that broke out of the mould that was only just starting to take shape back then, and that Fifa's year was '98

One of the key features was the availability to make transfers. On '97 you could do this too, but back then you could buy any player for 0 and so Southampton could of ended up with Ronaldo and friends. On this one they all cost money, money that meant lower clubs could buy a top player, but more realistic nevertheless.

Being able to qualify and play in a world cup was brilliant, and exclusive to the version because the '98 world cup was drawing nearer at the time. All the official French mascots were on the game, as well as the official stadia. The only thing unofficial was the results.

As with all Fifa games’, winning was the problem - it was too easy. If you took control of the Cook Islands for a campaign then chances are that you'll take them all the way, beating Zidane and Bergkamp with your unknown wannabes. A good thought for real life, but it kinds of dulls the game play a little.

Playing with your mates is the best thing that you can do on the game, as it induces a lot of laughs and a whole lot of fun. I bet your wondering how this Football game, amongst all the others, can do this. After all they all have the same concept. Easy, it has an indoor mode. This is probably the most excellent thing I have ever experience in my whole life as a football gamer. Plying one-twos' with the wall to take it round that last defender, shooting from your own net making it go miles over, only for your striker to header it in, Having to play with 3 players, knowing that if you get another one sent off the game is abandoned and you've lost, all make for astounding game play.

Overall a good game that has been made excellent by the indoor mode. Who else but EA could of thought of that? What do you mean anybody?

~Number 8 - Premier Manager '98 - Format - PS1~

Another show of how much I love my Football Sims. Premier Manager was my first real taste of a football management simulator, and I absolutely loved it. I didn't have a PC at that point in my life, so this whole concept was completely new to me. I was quite weary at first, but after playing a demo version I couldn't resist but to splash out on it.

On PM '98 you could only manage English teams, which means that you either go for Premiership Glory of some 3rd Division scraps. I mostly chose the premiership campaign, and after trying out most of the teams (including my own Leeds) I came to the conclusion that Liverpool were the best team to play it with

It was extremely easy to cheat on PM, which meant you could get the best Players and the best money on the game. All you have to do is be 2 teams and sell all the best players off of one team to the other for a small amount of money, then get all the money off that team by selling rubbish players to them for millions.

As you progress in the game the smaller clubs begin to get more and more money. I remember being in the year 2050 and Hull, struggling at the bottom of Division 2 had £65 million in the bank.

One good thing was the highlights section, which allowed you to see little snippets of the match, and, seeing as it was made by the same developers, it looked very much like Actua Soccer. It wasn't that good though, and after it crashed while watching an F.A. cup semi final between York and Leicester. After getting my mighty yorkies to barge past Liverpool and Chelsea I was left feeling downhearted and My PS1 was left scattered across my bedroom. I have not used the highlights since.

One bad thing was being able to go to whichever club you wanted even if they had a fantastic manager and were top of their league. If you were sacked on 2-player mode you could do this, on one player however, the game just ended if you contract was terminated.

A brilliant game followed up by something that was very lack lustre in Premier Manager '99.

~Number 8 - Pokemon Red - Format: Game Boy~

Now don't you call me one of those trendy people now, just because I as caught in the whirl of rip-offs that was Pokemon. For your information I was watching the TV series before it even caught on, and I only ever bought 3 packets of those rip-off cards. The games though are something to behold and cherish. It is unoften that you ever got a game of this depth on the original GameBoy, especially on those cartridges.

I consider the £25 I spent on this a bargain to say how many hours I sat pouring over that little screen. Over all I did spend around 100 hours on Pokemon Red alone, scouring the whole game for them elusive Pokemon and battling it out.

The game actually contains 150 Pokemon, but not all of them are available for catching. For some of them you have to trade with other owners of the game. For instance, you can only start out the game with either Charmander, Bulbasaur of Squirtle. To get all 3 you have to beg a mate to trade with you.

Their are also various tasks to work out along the way, like buying a drink for some guards so you can pass into different cities, having to go into a casino and win lots of money just to be able to buy a Pokemon and so on. This may not sound like a lot, but these were things something that most other Game Boy games would have used as a storyline for the whole of it, not just a tiny cog in the machine.

The graphics were spectacular as well. Although hey may have not have been in colour, you could tell the amount of work that had been put into each and every Pokemon, especially in battles. Their expressions never changed in battles though, and I suppose that would have been asking a bit too much to put onto this little cartridge.

Its strong point was really being able to save though. A game of this depth and quality would have usually used passwords for saves, but it still amazes me how they managed to fit a save slot onto it, pure class.

Pokemon Red is available all over the web, and if you shop around I wouldn't be surprised if you got it for less than a Fiver.

~Number 7 - Tony Hawks Pro Skater - Format: PS1~

It was the beginning of an era for gaming when the first Tony Hawks came out. Snowboarding was the only 'extreme' sport to make it into homes across the globe, and trying skateboarding was something completely new. If they had messed this game up then this whole genre would never have grown. Fortunately Activision made a fantastic game, which brought out the rebel in all of us.

I remember playing this on a demo with my stepbrother. Multiplayer was excellent, seeing who could get the most points by randomly pressing a direction as well as a button while you was in the air, it was addictive. After playing the demo until my fingers bled, healed then bled again, I decided to purchase it.

Once I played the first level I instantly knew that this wasn't all about doing stuff at random. Having to complete 'goals' meant timing and precision - after all, how else could you get over 100, 000 points in a 2 minute spell when my old average was 5, 000?

It also had a huge array of skaters to choose from, Tony Hawk was my man of choice, but there were many others, including a woman. Each had their own strengths and weaknesses, which meant you had to choose a skater to suit your style.

The layouts of the levels were fantastic too. You had to go around really checking everything to make certain how you could get a perfect combo to burst that 'sick score' that had been taunting you for the last 3 months.

The tournaments are what really got me going. There are 3 tournaments in the game, and each one gets progressively harder, with the last one being near impossible. In them you get ranked by judges for what you do. Your scores are added up and the one with the most points gets the gold, second most silver, 3rd bronze. All help you to get onto further levels.

Activision have since made 2 sequels, a BMX game as well as signing 35-year-old Hawk up for another 15 years worth of games.

Legendary Rating - 7.5/10

~Number 6 - Luigi's Mansion - Format: GameCube

Who'd have thought Luigi's first ever outing would be so good? After all, his brother has been in the spotlight now for well over a decade and each and every time Mario seems to get better.

After winning a mansion in a competition that he didn't enter, and Mario disappearing after going to visit the place, you'd have thought that he would have just not gone wouldn't you? Well Luigi didn't want to miss his big chance, and, despite looking like he had wet his pants all the way through the game, he has produced something which is class.

The aim is to clear up the mansion using only a torch, a vacuum cleaner and your wits, as well as trying to free Mario from the grasps of the ever-menacing King Boo. Oh yeah, and you only have one night to do it all. Still sound easy?

Originality of the game is a mix between ground breaking and stealing some one else’s ideas, after all this may as well be called Luigi's Ghost Busters. But to put it all into a game is a fantastic feat, and one that only Nintendo's in house team could pull off as well as they have done.

Although do not count them as a key factor in any game, the graphics are absolutely fantastic. The transparency effects on the ghosts are something that the PS2 would kill for, but fortunately those big cheeses at Sony won't be getting any of this ghost hunter.

One bad thing is how short the game is, which is rather a disappointment. After spending £40 you want something to get your teeth into, something that will last for months to come, not something you can complete in a weekend. This may be a bad thing in some people’s eyes, and I do see it as bad, but there is also a good side. You get a feeling of satisfaction knowing you've completed it, rather than it fading into the background of your collection half way through.

Overall it is a fantastic game, very dull, and is kind of mocking survival horror games. Lasting longer would have put it further up, but it still sits a comfortable 6th.

Legendary Rating - 8.5/10

~Number 5 - Bomberman - Format: SNES~

This has to be one of the best multiplayer games ever invented. The concept is so simple. You are in a maze, which has blocks in. You blast away the blocks with your bombs then try targeting your opponent with them. Okay, so the concept isn't simple, but hardly any top class games are.

For any legendary game, they have got to have an instant pick up and play value. It's a game where a beginner can pick it up and learn how to play instantly, and beat somebody who has been playing for months. And no, it is not a game of luck (well at least not most of the time), it is a game of skill and cunning that makes sure you use your bombs correctly or get burned (literally).

Power ups are there for the daring, and if you are willing to risk your life for a power up enabling you to punch or kick bombs, speed up your movement or even lay more bombs than you usually do. Like every bit of pleasure, there is some pain. 'Black Eye Disease' as me an my cousin call it causes you to have temporary illness like being slow, turning invisible (easily the worst) or making your bombs lay at the same time. Unlike to power ups, black eye disease all comes under one umbrella and the signs for them are all the same, a little skull.

Their are an amazing amount of mazes too. Each one has it own special qualities, whether it is too make you super fast, make your bombs go as far as possible when they blow up, have under ground tunnelling etc. they all are superbly done.

But for all of you with no friends, there is a single player mode, which sees you fighting off monsters and other enemies in different mazes. The multiplayer is easily the best option, and you can play it by yourself too, but the story mode is something for when you run tired of the same old foe.

A classically Japanese game and concept. Hopefully the new GameCube reincarnation will capture the spirit of the original.

Legendary Ranking - 8.6/10

~Number 4 - Tetris - Format: Game Boy~

Who hasn't played this game? Anybody who has ever owned, touched or even seen a Game Boy will probably know what this fantastic game is, and yet the concept sounds so stupid. You have different shaped object, which you have to fit into each other to make a line and, once you have, that line disappears. What next I hear all you non-Tetris people shout? You do it again and again and again, until your Game Boy screen fills up and no more can fit. Boring huh? Just wait until you pick it up. Oh go on, just one more go...

The way it fastens up as you go is absolutely fantastic. At level 10 you're living on adrenaline, and a few levels after your animal instincts kick in. By that time you do not know what you are doing and any sound can knock your concentration into orbit.

The music to Tetris is one of the most recognisable video game theme tunes ever invented. It bounces along, infuriating you as you whistle it over and over on the bus, on the train, on your way to the shop; it simply sticks with you for ages.

One drawback is that it only has one mode of play which, however unlikely this may seem, if you grow bored of playing on the same old level their is no alternatively.

Tetris is somewhat of a family game as well. My mother usually distances herself from any thing to do with computer gaming absolutely but she adores Tetris. I remember nights where I would have to beg and grovel just to be able to get s sideways glance at it. Unfortunately the screen is too small for her now and Mother never plays it.

As with all the best ones, graphics are not a big part of this, as if there were any they would distract you from your goal.

After hundred upon hundred of rip offs and a few sequels which flopped badly, It is now public knowledge that Tetris will never make a successful transition to 3-D, but it will reign forever as the king of the 2-D puzzle genre.

Legendary Rating - 9/10

~Number 3 - Mario Kart - Format: SNES~

Racing games at their peak of their brilliance. Yes you can add 100's of brand names, have the best cars, and even have life like graphics that trick you into thinking you are actually watching Television rather than playing a game, but you will never beat the original Mario Kart. It's conversions onto the Nintendo 64 and Game Boy Advance came within a hair breadth of equalling it, but some how they never did, and I think it is down to the age old law: 'The Original Is ALWAYS The Best'.

Playing as one of the Mario characters may seem as the main point of the game, but it is only the incentive to buy the game. This is not rushed operation just to make Nintendo an awful lot richer, no, it is a totally independent game that just happens to include people that you may know from other games.

The racecourses are genius, blending classic Mario levels in with pure creative genius, which makes every corner, every straight every time you over take an opponent a possible downfall, which could cost you the race of even the cup in some cases. My favourite levels are easily the best ones on the game, making you jump over lava, which acts as an excellent chance to get enemies.

The weapons up for grabs on the game are fantastic too. The 'heat seeking' shell is probably everybody’s favourite as it nearly always blows the person in front out of the water. This is of excellent use near the finish line when in desperate need of that illusive 1st place.

Of course, multiplayer is the best option on the game, especially when you have to go head to head in an all out battle to pop the others 3 balloons with weapons. I am proud to say that I am the best person I know at this, and very rarely do I lose game.

~Number 2 - Super Mario/Duckhunt - Format: NES~

Now this is the game that lit my love for every thing Nintendo. It’s as good of a game as you will find now, anywhere and on any platform. Back then all a game had to rely on was its game play and nothing else. No reputations were made back then, as this was one of the first Mario games out, and it was his first platform outing.

Mario pioneered the whole platform genre, and it was in this game where he first mounted his bid towards the throne of 'king of gaming'. Having to painstakingly execute jumps as close to perfection as humanly possible is just one of the many tasks which Mario forces you to do, as well as offering you lots of shortcuts to make the game, lets say a lot more 'interesting'.

This Mario also set a plot of which many games would copy, and all of them being Mario ones. Yes, saving the princess, who has had more names than Prince, or whatever that stupid singers name is, has been the main aim of most Mario games, and killing Bowser the ultimate thing to do.

Graphics were not good, but neither were any on this 8-bit chunk of genius.

Duck Hunt is probably the icing on the cake though, and is the reason why it is so far up this chart. Why have I put 2 games under 1 umbrella? Because they both came in the same cartridge in sort of a 'Double Header’, which really gave you, value for money.

Duck Hunt is the earliest game I can think of to use a 'light gun' for a control pad. The gun enabled you to shoot at the screen and it was entirely accurate. Unless you shot the little duck flying across and get it spot on, otherwise you will have to let it fly.

The little dog, which runs and gets your dead duck for you, is a brilliant touch and one that only the Big N could have thought of.

Overall it was a fantastic deal and one that most gamers could not turn down. This was the start of an era for the carpenter turned plumber. Jumpman was his original name but as most stars do, he got famous via another name and with this game. Duckhunt was a fantastic game with an arcade feel to it. Pure Brilliance.

Legendary Rating: 9.2/10

~Number 1 - Super Mario World - Format: SNES~

Who else but Mario could occupy the top spot on this top 10? His outstanding games are the stuff that dreams are made of, and are the most playable which I have played and completed.

Yes the plot is the same - you have to save that God Damned Princess from yet another hostage situation with Bowser. Can't the princess just learn some self defence instead of messing around, keeping Mario as her partner just for the protection. If she learned Judo she could take her 'relations' with Toad a step further.

The game play was nothing that we had not seen before, but in this game uses it to excellent effect. Yoshi, Mario’s dog like companion of a Dinosaur, made his first appearance on here. Riding him makes you invincible for one hit.

Graphics are something special for the SNES. They may not be 3-D, nor they be spectacular, but its cartoon style suits the game perfectly. Would you like to see a super realistic Mario riding an almost life-like Yoshi while going after bowser? I sure as hell know I wouldn't.

The music is as good as on any Mario game, and, although when whistling them they sound nothing like they are supposed to, they will be in your head for years.

Losing one life on Super Mario World has a domino effect. Say you have 22 Lives and you lose one, before you know it you are living on a shoestring after falling off that ledge a few times too many

After recently being Re-incarnated on the Game Boy Advance, but this time with Luigi available to play as, I doubt that this piece of Miyamoto magic will ever truly die.

Legend Rating - 9.5/10

~Games That Really Should Have Been In~

These are Games that I have played and loved, but not really had a full dig at...

~Super Mario 64 - Format: N64
Apparently the greatest platform game of all time. Nearly completed it in a weekend when I rented it and the console from Blockbuster.

~Resident Evil - Format: PS1
The best survival horror game ever created and it will have you jumping and screaming at every opportunity.

~Grand Theft Auto 3 - Format: PS2
When I play this I just go around killing people. Brilliant game, but only ever played my stepbrothers game.

~Super Mario Land - Format: Game Boy
Superb game but simply too short. I tried for years to complete this, unsuccessfully might I add, but then completed it in about 10 minutes one Sunday afternoon.

NO! No, ok?! It's never the "of all time", because they ALWAYS make a bloody sequel, it can't be "of all time" if it's actually only "for three months". Just NO.
