Yesterday we shocked you with the news that Nintendo has sold it's 49% stake it held in Rare to Microsoft. Now we know who has the right for what franchise.

Many of you must have been wondering about what will happen with games like Banjo Kazooie, or more importantly, Perfect Dark.

New details have now hit the net. Nintendo has sold the rights to: Perfect Dark, Conker, and Banjo Kazooie to Microsft/Rareware. Nintendo will keep the rights for Donkey Kong and Star Fox, and will internally develop the next Donkey Kong game.

What will happen to Kameo: Elements of Power is still unknown. It's probably (unfortunately) safe to say that this game won't come out on the GameCube, as it has never been released on another Nintendo console before, and Nintendo thus doesn't have any rights to it.

I still can't think of one even with this new RARE reason, I don't think that Rare will throw away all their GBA titles like Banjo Kazooie: Gruntys revenge, why waste all that time and money to not even release it in USA and UK.

It's like the BBC losing Match Of The Day (no really, it is)

The bastion is gone, but the fortress still stands. For a while, at least.

Then again, I can't think of a single reason to buy a PS2 at all, but the damn things keep selling by the bucketload. Mind you, I doubt you can fit more than two or three in a bucket, so that's not too bad.

Funny, that's what they said about the Resident Evil franchise with Sony. One company does not make a huge difference, especially one that comes out with as few games as Rare.

All three consoles have excellent future line ups anyway, you're not going to loose by buying one or another at the moment, but to be sure you could get all three. I've seen 4 second hand Xboxes in the last 2 weeks since getting mine, so it's possible to get them a lot cheaper now. Anyway, all three are pretty cheap compared to a year ago, so there you go.

Hopefully it still means that you can be happy, even if you have just the one console, whatever one it is.
