In the IP Addresses section, the IP Address needs to be one that you give to your Xbox. Mine is 10.0.0.13 in my setup. This is unique to it. The subnet mask is 255.0.0.0, which is pretty much default for everything. The Gateway address is 10.0.0.2, which is my router's internal IP. The router also has an external IP, 81.x.x.x. In the DNS Servers section I have the Primary DNS as 10.0.0.2, which is of course my router. I never bothered with an Alternate DNS.

Now then. In the IP Addresses section, if you set configuration to automatic, it should get an IP address automatically. Does it?

I put that info in but I'm still getting a 'network gateway error'.

What IP do I put in the gateway section?

The info from IPconfig should have given you a DNS address, if memory serves me correctly. My problem is I can't check properly being behind a router.

So the info I got using IPconfig should go in the DNS settings?

Do you mean that you entered the network gateway on the Xbox as your PCs IP address?

I think I'll just re-order my BT broadband and get the proper router.

Then everything'll be supported and if all else fails I can get a BT engineer to sort it.
