Its possible that most of you don`t know about the cancellation of the sci-fi series Farscape, and its also possible that some of you have never heard of Farscape at all. In this case, I`ll fill you in on what is happening:
The Sci-fi channel decided to cancel Farscape season 5 (allowing only season 4 to run to completion). They blame a drop in ratings, and high production costs. I`ve read around, and from what I can see, this is all rubbish. The production costs are lower than series such as Buffy and Enterprise, whilst the tv ratings have been amongst the leaders on the Sci-fi channel (at around number 2). Whatever the reason, the show is in trouble, and there are petitions and threads all over the place trying to save it. If you have any interest in the show, or have ever seen an episode and found it in anyway interesting, then please head to one of the addresses above. To find out more, simply put "Farscape News" into google.
Thanks to anybody who goes to those sites and helps out!
If you`ve just got into it, don`t worry too much as the fourth season should still be shown with no problems, its only the fifth that looks uncertain.
If its absolutely definite that the show will be cut forever then I hope they make the end of season 4 into something of a proper finish. It would be a shame to just say "John carried on his journey with his new found friends". I`d like to see something amazing happen (whether or not that means a return to earth I don`t know).
Anyway, glad ya like it!
quite a few staff who agree with me.
Cant say I'm happy at all considering I've only just started getting into it as well. always the way. find a decent new programme to watch ( i know ive taken my time) and then it gets cancelled.
Meh!
And thanks to all those guys immature comments...they're helping the original message stay at the top of the boards!
SAVE FARSCAPE!!

Um... why?

ok, shut up! :)
Actually, I quite like when they inject as much of the 'real' world into a storyline as possible.
In general, I actually dislike it more when they start inventing too much 'fantastic' objects or events, that fit the situation or cause... Though obviously in B-Movie style its fun.
For me, the Sci-Fi genre is too wide to be encapsulated by such a specific content.
And although a fan of Sci-Fi, I'm actually not a fan of 'classic' furturistic, spaceships, laser guns, etc.. type adventures, Neither Star Trek, Babylon 5, etc.. really do anything for me.
I think Sci-Fi is in a unique position of asking the reader/viewer/player to question themselves and what is around them in new and imaginative ways. To allow you look in the world from a different perspective, and accept ideas you may otherwise have closed your mind to.
And I found that Farscape just didnt do that for me, but then again, like I said, most other Sci-Fi doesnt either.
The old BBC Sci-Fi may have been made on the cheesiest sets, with the lowest budgest, and the most questionable ham acting, but the storys did try something new, they played with the given premises, tried ideas that the current crop of Sci-Fi adventures failed to approach...
At the same time, it seemed to me, they knew they were making TV, not changing the face of wolrd politics, and so had fun with the world they had, enjoyed themselves...
I suppes its like the diffence between American and British computer games of the eighties, American titles tending toward the more dramatic, the more realistic, the British toward the humorous, the more electic.
Personally I could do with a little less computer generated graphics, and a little more humor, swap a few of the laser cannons for a few though provocing ideas... I dunno?
I think it is a shame it looks for the chop, as it did have some good ideas and wasn't as boring to watch as Star Trek, but I've never really been a huge fan of Sci-Fi shows anyway.
I do like the new Enterprise show though, odd as I don't really like any of the other star trek programs.

Yeah, a storyline! It's not Sci-Fi as in fiction any more tho cos they use real physics in most of em now which destroys the original concept and purpose of sci-fi. Just tell me to shut up!
