Conflict Desert Storm is based on the Gulf War, a huge Conflict that happened 10 years ago. I'm sure the people involved in it would not have been happy with the concept of people using it for a game. A game intended to be fun and enjoyable, something that real wars aren't. It's not the first time dark subjects have been moved into games. WW2 games have been around for years and are in their prime right now. But, if people can cover World War 2 and such as games...

A few days ago was the first anniversary of September the 11th. A dark subject, indeed. But is it darker than the Wars? Maybe so, amybe not, down to personal opinion. I'd say that World War 2 was more gruesome. That has been covered as a game. So, in 10 years can we expect games based on those terrible events? Like, you play as either the Terrorists or a Passenger and must hijack/save the plane? And then you play as a fireman saving lives in the Twin Towers. People, I know what I'm saying is darned disrepectful, but it could be the truth..

Hence the reason Vice City is set in the 80's...

Not being disrespectful but just think how many idiots must have jumped on their flight sims and crashed planes into the world trade centers.... every tragedy becomes bareable for the people not involved and when this one does it most probably will be made into a film and games etc.

Considering the events of 9/11 have no real gameplay factors in them, then all someone could do is make a game based on Enduring Freedom after that, like Task Force Dagger, Ghost Recon Desert Siege....and both those games suck because they are v.poor.

In short, there are far more decent ideas out there than a 9/11 cash in. The Gulf War was more suited to games, being straight conflict.

Touchy subject really because it only happened last year, in ten years time America will have killed half the world in their war against terror thingy and i think the game could be based on defeated all the countrys with terrorists in, So the game could start with the 9/11 attacks and then go on from there where you will have to attack back and stuff like that.

I think you could be on to something Asher. It is a very sensitive subject of course, but the same thing would have been said post WW2 - now a WW2 baseed game, Medal of Honour, has been top of the charts.

There has been talk in Hollywood of a movie being made of it already, so a game might not be far away. Whatever, happens, I won't be playing it.
