I mean how long have we been living with the genres we have, can there be any more? Is there anymore? Or dont computer companys bother now?

Its almost (if not) impossible to create a new genre. You could only create sub-genres, off-shoots between two/three whatever already established genres. It is impossible to think up anything COMPLETELY original.

I'm sure new genres will be created, most likely by the Japanese.

But that is only if developers pull their finger(s) out and stop churning out sequel after sequel. Sure, some games deserve or demand sequels, but most are just the same game overall, but with an addition to the name.

The games industry will only push forward if originality is still a key factor. If that goes, fifty years from now, all games will be exactly like they are now, only with spanglier(?) graphics.
