OK, good point.

But they do take a different approach and implement a different concept to others though.

Nice genre ideas PB!

If any of those become a reality I would definately buy them, except the programming one because I suck at that stuff.

I could always draw nice pictures on the discs and sell them as decorative coasters though :D

How about the Last Person Shooter? This would involve trying to run around mazes shooting monsters, as viewed from a speck in the distance.

The Lack of thought game genre - The opposite of a puzzle game, any logical thought would come off of your points instead of being rewarded.

The Animal Simulator - Yes, you too could be a cow, just lower that head by 76 degrees and chew the grass.

The Programmer Genre - The game comes on a CDR in a blank box, you have to design it and then sell it back to the shop.

Oh dear, I'd better stop there...

It's just a matter of the developers putting their minds to it.

Look at what Konami achieved with MGS? OK, it was a sequel but broke so many boundaries it was an original in itself.

And look at games like Crazy Taxi, Pikmin, JSR etc.

Developers have the potential, they just don't seem to want to use it as much as we'd all like.

A new genre involving making cheese for hours on end. Wouldn't that be fun.

New genres will come from creating new visual styles - if any of the developers can be bothered that is.

I suppose they could create a couple new Genres like in Japan they have sex games in arcades for the modest man lol ;D I think it would be VERY hard to think up many more but for now there are enough genres for me as long as they change the games so there's not to many sequals. It's the story that counts I mean I love all the Final Fantasy's because they all have the best story lines ever even thought they are all the same Genres (ok I will allow the FF sequals :D )
