i loaded up my computer this mornin and it said some files were missing or corrupt,
himem.sys
dblbuff.sys
and ifshlp.sys
so i copied the from my other computer, but it still doesnt work so i am confined to msdos. When i boot my computer it gets to the second windows screen and then resets itself and keeps going through... so any ideas?

just put the startup disk in then reboot your PC the disk will do everything else (hopefully)

yeah in DOS you type cd:\..etc

not sure if that works though, havn't used DOS in about 5 years

98SE on the bust PC, and 98 on the other. When i put the disk in, it come up with 2 options, boot with or without CD support. Although eaach time it ends up with:

Preparing to start you computer.
This may take a few minutes. Please wait...

The diadnostic tools were successfully loaded to drive D.

To get help, type HELP and press ENTER.

No, it's just a disk used to start up when it's not possible from the hard drive. What Operating System are you using?

And then keep the Start-Up disk you made in a safe place as you never know when it will come in handy!

If you have another PC use it and go to Start>Settings>Control Panel

Then choose Add/Remove programs and click on the "Start-up disk" tab. You'll need a blank, formatted floppy disk.

Create the start-up disk and then put it in your broken PC and reboot.
