Woohoo, my lifelong ambition of owning a Dreamcast (not) has been fulfilled today, since I bought one.

True story:

Went into town today with absolutely no intention of buying a Dreamcast. While looking in Game, I saw they had pre-owned Dreamcasts for £30.

Anyway, being the cheap person that I am, I asked the guy if I could have it for £20. After a lengthy wait (the guy went out the back, probably to ring somebody :D), the guy said that was okay. so, using the £25 I had in my wallet, I bought the Dreamcast and a VMU. Problem was, the VMU was actually £7, so the guy knocked off £2 from the Dreamcast to cater for my monetary problems.

So I got a Dreamcast for £18.

Then, I went to CEX and bought some DC games - Sonic Adventure £5, Chu Chu Rocket £1, Shenmue £12 and Skies of Arcadia £20 (heck, I really wanted it). Funny thing is, I just took more money out my bank account. I could have paid £30 for the Dreamcast, but I liked the 'I'm a poor cheap person' act and got the DC cheaper :).

Woohoo! I'm looking forward to a looong night of Shenmue. What a game :D.

The best part was that shockingly ugly girl whose looking after the cat, and her totally stupid voice.

Or maybe that other guy who was being trained by your father, the one who wet himself every time you did something even remotely dangerous.

Yes but the fighting made up about 10 minutes of a 40 hour game, the QTEs were pointless because if you failed it just kept repeating, when it should have led to you taking a different (harder) route. The racing sucked. And I did get into the story, beleive me, I spent about 100 hours playing this game, I explored every nook and cranny, then when I'd finished I suddenly realised, it was crap.

Oh and the thing I meant to post after the fourth line was:

As an PG it lacked even the basics such as being able to choose what you want to say in conversation.

Then at the end I was going to say:

But Skies of Arcadia is fookin brilliant.

But the fighting was so good, and the QTEs were fantastic, and there were so many comedy moments involving "getting another".
The racing was good, so was the story, if you got into it.
Shenmue II was fantastic, but was let down by the 4th CD, which just consisted of following Shen Hua around. But the fighting was worth it, and the feel of the game was so right. I realise that it wasn't for everyone, but everyone should try it, becuase it might be the game for you, and you'd never forgive yourself for missing out on it.

It was boring. There was no freedom like they claimed, the game was entierly linear. The 'game' consisted of you walking around very slowly asking every single person if they saw 'a black car on the day the snow turned to rain', then when someone finally tells you, you go around asking every single person, 'which direction did it go in?', repeat this 30 times and you've finished the first disc. The job thing sucked, big time. Every sodding day you have to participate in that stupid fork lift race (which was okay the first time) that takes about 20 minutes, then you just slowly drive up and down the harbour carrying boxes, woohoo. Also every day you spend 15 minutes of your (real life) time in the empty parking lot because you have to practice your moves, not that you'll ever them. There are about 5 fights in the whole game, which were okay, but lacking. And, to top it off, the graphics weren't even that good.

The only reason I'd ever want to play it again is for the huge 80 man fight, right at the end.

What?
Shenmue is perhaps the best game I have ever played, with the second best game being Shenmue II.
