Have any of you seen the japanese gamecube boxes ?
i was in games arena today gurgling over a japanese copy of mario sunshine (mine will be here in a few days ... yay !) and i noticed how small and neat the box was. It was just the right size for the tiny GC disc and the manual and looked like the japanese GBA boxes. Why can't our boxes be small , that way they wouldn't take up as much room and we could carry more from place to place , like the Jap GBA boxes. I dont mind the big western DVD size boxes , but small ones are just much cooler.

Because in Japan; the homes are smaller than they are here. Hence the need for smaller packing, allowing for efficient storage.
Hmmm... What about using the wallet given away with this months NOM? That's small, and doesn't take much space up at all. Still, Japanese Gmaers get small boxes, why can't we? I remember seeing jap GBA boxes about 5cm tall and 8cm wide (give or take a few) then compare that to our western versions. Jeez!
Believe me. The Japanese GameCube boxes don't last the test of time very well. The outer cardboard becomes tatty and scuffed after a short while and it doesn't look too nice either.

I didn't like the boxes either, they did get tatty and everything too easily. And you could quite easily damage them from trying to open the thing.

The one thing i do not like about the Japanese boxes is their cardboard nature. A few of my N64 boxes fell foul to a misplaced foot, and they look so tatty after they have been crushed.
I like the DVD cases, I think that they are more sturdy than the cardboard boxes.
