We both went to Uni thing today and picked up books with courses and stuff inside.
I told him I wanted to do Sociology, Physcology, Politics etc and he said he wanted to do Business Law.
So I kind of started asking if that's what he really wanted today because it's sounds really boring and not my thing. He said yeah and he would be loaded when he was older.
I thought he was just joking about but we got into argument about how I would end up poor and he would be loaded which got me so angry I lost it a bit and was calling him naive and ignorant.
He comes from rich background and basically slagged off anyone poorer thank what he had... so I lost it and walked away.
So errr who do you agree with:
a) Do subject you will actually enjoy... with interest in future but not main aim in life to be rich etc
b) DO 4 years at Uni at some crappy course just because you might be rich when older

The problem is that it is not just 4 years. Whatever you study to become, you will do that for a long time. My advise is do what you like doing. Maybee you won't become a millionaire but at least you will enjoy your job and thats the most important thing. Just consider your working week. You spend 1/3 of your time sleeping, 1/3 working and 1/3 doing something else. If you don't like your job you will spend your work time being miserble and the other time moaning about it (trust me I know so many people like this). Then all you will do is count down the days to the weekend. Now I know your never gonna get the perfect job, they don't exist, but get a job where you enjoy it most of the time and you will have a better quality of life.
You'll be enjoying your courses and (by the sounds of what you're taking) you should end up in a job that'll make you rich.
And if your pal has no interest other than getting rich through the course than me thinks he'll drop out before his third year.(Second if there isn't a third year)
Hurrah for me
Anyway, it's best to get a happy medium. Do some boring stuff, and some interesting stuff. I'm not just doing media, I'm getting an extra A level (Business) so I have some stuff to fall back on
Sadly, some people do seem only interested in money. I've lost count of the amount of times I've been moaned at for not getting a job this summer... but I'm not particularly keen on spending a few hundred hours of the summer indoors doing various menial tasks whihc would not be taxing for an educated chimp. I should be outside playing football, or off bodyboarding, or a hundred and one other things. You're only young once.
That being said, I do now have to spend the next few weeks doing preparation work 'to decrease next years workload'...
