Mainly because I'm just being a moany git but:

We both went to Uni thing today and picked up books with courses and stuff inside.

I told him I wanted to do Sociology, Physcology, Politics etc and he said he wanted to do Business Law.

So I kind of started asking if that's what he really wanted today because it's sounds really boring and not my thing. He said yeah and he would be loaded when he was older.

I thought he was just joking about but we got into argument about how I would end up poor and he would be loaded which got me so angry I lost it a bit and was calling him naive and ignorant.

He comes from rich background and basically slagged off anyone poorer thank what he had... so I lost it and walked away.

So errr who do you agree with:

a) Do subject you will actually enjoy... with interest in future but not main aim in life to be rich etc

b) DO 4 years at Uni at some crappy course just because you might be rich when older

I'm not so bothered about throwing away 40 years to the workforce in order to obtain some money.

I'm not just interested in those few years. My view of life extends a little further. If you feel loaded with self interest, go for what makes you happy. If however, you'd rather take care of others and simply know that you can enjoy your retirement, then take a different route.

If you want both, get your head in the textbooks and pray to whatever Gods you believe in that you have a talent for something.

Do what you want to do and what you think'll make you happy, and not what some snobbish ponce that'll give up before he gets to the end of his course is doing.

Enjoy rather than not enjoy, obviously. Anyway it sounds like you could get a fair bit of money doing what you want to do anyway, so good on you.

Yes. Because you want to spend 40 years in a job just for the money, don't you?

Nah, screw that, do something you can be happy doing.

I don't remember when learning Psychology resulted in a poorly paid job, and politicians (especially as you get higher up) is paid quite well too.
Just do what you like and enjoy and you will be content, while he is pouring through appendix after appendix of law textbooks.

Did I mention "fun".

Education is not just there to make you rich in my opinion

I want to go and educate myself in something I enjoy and find interesting
