I'm thinking about this, I can see it being a great hit in the States but I can see it being an incredibly slow starter here.

The fact is that people have to buy the console which will set them back £200+ and then pay for the broadband internet.

For all the people that have got the money to buy broadband then it will be a great hit but the rest of the nation will all be crying!

Just think about it this way, you are paying £360+ a year to have access to the internet. If you just got a normal dial up connection at £13.99 a month you would have £192 to spend on games to play offline.
Is it worth 5 new games just to be able to play older games on the internet?

Basically, although it is good for MS to release it here as it will result in extra income. It will not be as big as I believe they hope it will, in fact, it will be increadibly poor!

We need cheaper internet! Grab your pitch forks and head down to the BT HQ!

I don't really care if it takes off here though, my mate is going to get broadband soon so I can just pop down the road and have a game!

-I AM NOT IN ANYWAY SAYING THAT XBOX IS CRAP! IM JUST STATING A FEW POINTS ABOUT XBOX LIVE!-

Don't moan, please!

For PS2 it will probably cost £100 for Ethenet and Harddisk.

One point that I should point out is that an ADSL connection doest work with the Ethernet connection on the back of the Xbox. Iam sure that they are different connection types with Ethernet being an RJ-45 and ADSL being RJ-11. Also it uses different protocols so getting a converter may not help. What I think you need to do is have a PC that has a Network card and use it that way. I am pretty sure about this as I either read it on the internet or in a Xbox magazine.

I agree, Broadband internet is very expensive, but as with most things in life, if you want them enough you will be prepared to work for them or sacrifice something in order to get what you want. We don't have SKY TV Broadband is a feesable option, but as soon as I get a job I will contribute towards paying the monthly fees from Freeserve. I will have Broadband before Xbox Live launches in the UK so that is something that I am looking forward to. I haven't really enjoyed online play due to a very poor modem (the modem will remain nameless due to embarassing/garbes legal reasons), but with Broadband and Xbox Live I am looking forward to the possibilities of fast, trouble free online play.

I don't mean poor worldwide though, I just mean in the UK...

100,000 across the USA and Europe sounds a lot but how many are from the UK?

If the prices come down to £20 a month then it will be good, otherwise...

OH DEAR....

Early on there were reports of it retailing for £200 but due to the gaming market today I think Sony have had a reality check and realised that peopel will not pay £200 extra, that could buy you an Xbox with the Hard Drive built in!

You're probably right.

Broadband will become cheaper eventually, so will XBox. ANyway, my dad i'll be paying the online bills, not me. :P

Play older games on the internet? The games will be new, fast and (probably) better than any PC online game you've ever played. I think i'll be woth 5 games, yes.

Basically, although it is good for MS to release it here as it will result in extra income. It will not be as big as I believe they hope it will, in fact, it will be increadibly poor!

Could be bigger than you think, it may be the thing to make Xbox stand above the rest. If I get Broadband, I'll get LIVE and anyway,ff it doesn't take off at least you'll be able to play against all those yanks. :)

Yes, but i've only got a spade, will that do?
