Special effects were terrible, I cannot for the life of me understand how they won an Oscar. Terrible
Had some alright moments, like the action (what little action it had) and I've said it once, I'll say it again - Sean Bean is the man
Wood's American accent seemed to slip a bit, but Sean Astin's accent was good (he's from the Goonies, don't you know)
What else? Um... music score was mediocre at best, except for a few bits like Gandalf's fall and when Bean is chinnin' all those Orcs, heh
I want to slap the special effects guys, and Stryke, for lying to me, saying it was excellent (or something along those lines) Oh, and the director (that fat bloke) for using that sweeping camera (revolving around the characters) about 50 times too many
I just prey the sequels are better
Of course I don't know what a goblin or whatever looks
> like, but I do know that if I ever see one, it will LOOK real, and not
> look like it's been thrown together on an old 486
It wouldn't look real, it's look pretty unreal because you wouldn't expect to see it in real life.
If you go see a film, watch the film, 'cause if you just sit there picking through the effects and whatnot then you're going to find most films v.boring !

As for this special effects argument, fair enough at times the computer visuals just stick out at you but for most of the time you can't really tell unless you're looking for it. The only really noticable time is when Legolas (Bow and Arrow elf dude) jumps off the cave troll during the fight scene in the mines of Moria. Ergh.
Most people want to see 100% perfect effects in the great movies such as Spiderman and LOTR, but what they dont seem to realise is that when you mix the real world and the virtual world on the screen, they aint' going to look exactly the same...
Effects now, are better than what they were 10-15 years ago and most movies look fantastic...
Spiderman was great even though some CGI Spidermen were shoddy but still didnt make me leave the cinema... Resident Evil was awesome even though some of the monsters weren't great, but some awesome fire effects and action sequences...
Effects are going to keep getting better in movies and as long as people realise that they are not actually real and digitally made, then you might cross that line and finally see that its not ever going to 100% perfect, otherwise we'd be able to swing from spider-webs above New York and come face to face with a dragon in London...

Why?
He said it was crap.
I aint sitting down for two hours (or however bloody long it is) to see if he is right/wrong.
Effects were mediocre
Characters were mediocre
One of the most over hyped films I've ever seen. Nothing happened in it
If you're going to do a big budget film with lots of effects, make sure the effects look GOOD. That's all I'm saying. Stop jumping on me!
If they'd done LOTR back in the 80s, there would've been some poop stop motion, but I bet the rest would've looked good
Just look at Willow. That rules

> Jurassic Park looked real when it came out

> LOTR just looked poop, like Spiderman
Who gives a damn? Effects dont make a movie. Does Clerks have amazing effects? Does wayne's world have a CGI Garth? Noooo and they're still brilliant films...
