Meh, it was alright. Nothing special

Special effects were terrible, I cannot for the life of me understand how they won an Oscar. Terrible

Had some alright moments, like the action (what little action it had) and I've said it once, I'll say it again - Sean Bean is the man

Wood's American accent seemed to slip a bit, but Sean Astin's accent was good (he's from the Goonies, don't you know)

What else? Um... music score was mediocre at best, except for a few bits like Gandalf's fall and when Bean is chinnin' all those Orcs, heh

I want to slap the special effects guys, and Stryke, for lying to me, saying it was excellent (or something along those lines) Oh, and the director (that fat bloke) for using that sweeping camera (revolving around the characters) about 50 times too many

I just prey the sequels are better

Have your eyes checked

I honestly can't understand why things can appear horribly fake to me (because they ARE horribly fake) yet they manage to fool you lot. I must be of a higher intelligence (damn, that Stryke-ness is kicking in again)

Well last night i watched LOTR for the 8th time. On NO part did i ever think that what i was seeing was CGI. Even the Balrog and Cave troll looked amazingly realistic.

1. I don't wear glasses
2. It was my brother's girlfriend's DVD. Not a pirate
3. The effects looked FAKE. End of story. They looked like they had been done with computers, meaning the effects team did a bad job (not that I could do better, but then if I was trained in it, and got paid what they do, maybe I could)
4. I rule
5. I'm turning into Stryke. Save me

You, have, prostitues?

And you take them out for their birthdays?

Are you, like, their pimp or something?

Anyway:

When I saw LotR I thought it was great.

When they were on the way up 'Snowy Mountain' I thought that they looked stuck on.

Then I saw a 'the making of' feature, and saw them heading up the mountain for real.

So yeah, that looked fake, but it was real. Funny how our eyes trick us.

Oh, and you know the drumming of the orcs? That was all done on computer, but it sounded too perfect, so they had to put in slight timing errors, as it would be impossible for 1000 odd creatures to all drum in perfect time. It's attention to detail like that that made the effects, visual and aural, special.

I have it on DVD, but haven't got around to seeing it again yet, but I was impressed in the cinema, apart from where Kate Blanchett went a bit doolally.

Oh, and Goatboy, of course you wanted the Ringwraithes to smash the hobbits, look at them, they hang out with elves, and sing. ;o)

Nonsense is what I've been reading in most here.
This movie's effects beat any other (Compare it to the realism in Attack of the Clones), the effects are absolutely superb and incredibly realistic, if you think not, go wipe the smudges of your Glasses!- Failing that, throw your Pirate copy in the Bin and buy the DVD!

Did you know there's a Michael Winslow website at...

http://www.michaelwinslow.com/

There aren't many good sound effects, but there's a little Real Player video section with his kung fu fight from Police Academy.
"Damn you...wanna fight huh...fight me!!"
*cue lots of wild kung fu noises and leaping about*
Best thing ever.

Plus there's even a store, where you can buy all of your Michael Winslow merchandise.
Items to buy include videos, t-shirts, caps, mouse mats and even coasters!

That's quite possibly the funniest thing I've read today, Jones plays Gandalf. A big black Gandalf doing comedy special effects. In a police helmet.

Guttenberg as Frodo and Michael Winslow as Gandalf!

Gandalf - Take the ring *whistle, explosion* Look out for those Orcs! *machine gun* That'll scare 'em off!

Anyway, yes, the film did have crap special effects. The fact that they look fake to me means they ARE crap, as they've failed to look real. Doesn't matter how many people say they're good, if they look fake to just one person, they must look fake.

By the time I'm making films, CGI had better have improved, or I'll set my monkeys on all the special effects companies

You have been warned!
