I wandered into Dixons on Friday to get an ink cartridge for my Dads PC. While I was there I saw a Dolby Digital 5.1 system thing connected to an Xbox. I've wanted one for a while, so I went over and had a look.

To cut a long story short, it was going on the cheap, so I bought.

Oh. My. God.

I didn't realise how much of a difference it would actually make to my games. So far, because of work etc, I've only tried it with Amped, Halo and PGR. I've watched LotR with it as well.

It is untrue.

In Amped, you can hear the snow swishing around you, and hear the other boarders as they go past etc. On PGR you can hear all the other cars around you, can you don't have to bother with the review mirror, as you can tell which side of you they're trying to overtake on.

Halo is unbelievable! Youi no longer need the radar, just some ears that work. The sub producers great bass as ships fly past overhead.

As for LotR, it was just like being back in the cinema. I don't know how many of you have a surround setup, but I'd highly recommend you got one. My kit was only £150.

I am getting one in the next 2 weeks, Tom has one and he has helped me shop around for a good one, I have found one and it is £169.99 and it is a Yamaha TSS-1 and I can't wait to pick it up! The only problem I have is I won't be able to open it until my birthday in October, oh well that is only 6 weeks away :D Glad you like it YH, I am going to pick up a game along with the system but as yet I can't decide which one to get.
